To be fair, Matt Kaulig isn’t donating via the Day of Giving. I think football gets a decent share of donations outside of today.

Isn't that kind of the problem though? Kaulig obviously gifts a substantial sum, but it's nowhere near enough to be competitive in the MAC. More help is clearly needed.

More help is needed, but UA's run through an exhaustive list of coaches, AD's and losing programs for decades. Good luck finding anyone willing to shell out big bucks if they don't feel UA will spend that money wisely.

I make my donation to football annually because I like Joe and feel he merits support. I have fun attending the games in the fall. The guy went 5-7 last year despite being hamstrung by a litany of handicaps beyond his control. He's a good coach who wants to be here. I expect 6 wins this season. Which is like 8-9 wins for a respectfully funded program.

Infocision is a resource. I think it could be filled to 18-20 k on average and make money even with the University's football acumen and historical shortcomings. But it's easier to say "I wouldn't have built that stadium" and be off the hook.

Goodrich has only been around a short while. He hasn't done anything stupid yet, so I have a some hope that he can at least get football pointed in the right financial direction. We'll see...

Home opener should be Deborah Cook Appreciation Night. Wow!

She has been a generous donor for years. Part of me still wonders if she clicked 1 too many zeroes 😅

People will always look for return on an investment. I donate and support men's basketball because I have seen my support and the support of others lead to consistent success on the court, MAC Championships, and NCAA Tournament berths.

The sad reality for football is we haven't had a winning record in the conference in almost a decade. We've only had an overall winning record in 9 of 40 seasons, and only 1 of the last 20. The ceiling for the program is winning the MAC and playing in a smaller bowl that only matters to fans of the two teams playing and degenerate gamblers. And we are pretty far away from that ceiling.

I attend a football game or two each year. I obviously hope they do well. But I can't blame fans/alumni for not giving their hard-earned money to the program instead of giving to men's basketball, men's soccer, or another winning program at UA.

This pretty much sums up how I feel. Honestly, you seem more invested than I am. I might catch one or two games on TV each year, and I don’t go to any in person. My past experiences at games were so bad that I’d need to be paid to sit in Infocision for three and a half to four hours again. And it’s not just about them losing. I’ve sat through plenty of awful Browns seasons over the years. It’s more that the product Akron football puts out just doesn’t feel worth it to me, and I don’t really see a clear path for it to get better.
