So in a rebuilding year the Zips added two transfers from WVU, one from NC, one from OSU and another from Cornell. While also bringing in the top high school basketball player in the state of West Virginia?

I'm so ready for this.

The Portal giveth and The Portal taketh away. I guess we have to remember it's a 2-way street.

Toledo’s Tyler Cochran to Oklahoma State.

I guess he’s not going to a 4th MAC school.

I’m an idiot and saw the orange “OSU” and said OK State. It’s Oregon State he’s going to. So I guess not a power conference team unless you count the PAC-2 as a power conference.

Did he and Moss split the travel expenses out to Oregon? And did Oregon & Oregon State play Rock Paper Scissors to see who got which Toledo player?

I guess it's not safe to get excited until a player starts getting some meaningful minutes. And then you have the Dawson situation where his productivity fell off and left. And then the situation where Aziz Bandaogo leaves for a bigger school. So basically, it's just not safe to get excited.

Who am I kidding. I'm still excited. Go Zips!!

Aziz now in Cincinnati and made Twitter for the all-name game. 😊

Here's  an interesting article about Zay's prior coach from Cornell, who is now trying to turn around William and Mary, one of only 3 schools who have been eligible for every NCAA tournament, but have never qualified. Two things stand out to me. First, Groce is certainly not the only coach who wants to shoot as many 3's as possible while also playing 10. Second, I didn't realize the Ivy League has a rule where players can't play more than 4 years in the league, regardless of circumstances. For that reason, Zay and three of his ex-teammates were forced to transfer to play their final season (I assume they each got an extra covid season). Maybe John and Bud can take advantage of this again in the future?
