The schedule is okay for us, let's say more interested, fans. I don't think it does anything for casual fans or STHs. All in all there is solid competition. It's just a shame to not be in a good tournament or have any big names outside of St Marys, who is like the smallest "big name" there is. Nothing appealing at home. Hopefully we get Princeton next year. Some good mid major matchups, a nice opportunity @ St Marys, it's okay.

Agree. Ark St, Yale, Princeton, St Mary’s, and Sun Belt return game will all be good tests against mid major opponents. Think the lack of the tourney in a tropical destination against good mid majors/P5 is what makes it look so blah.

16 home games v 14 home last season (+ St B in Cleveland).

Only getting one game vs. BG could be the difference in winning the league.

Like Akron, they are loaded with Dudes.

Also, only one game with Miami ... Zips get a big break, IMO, as those are the two teams (Miami/BG) most likely to be darkhorse contenders to win the MAC.

Toledo, UB, Kent, OU, CMU, NIU, Balls 2X apiece. Only travel gripe would be @ NIU then @ Kent 4 days later. Seems fine enough

UB and Northern should be 2-game sweeps, CMU-Balls could be sweeps but splits at worst; six. potential eight wins right there. No worse than splits with UT/OU/Kent and that is 9-to-11 wins plus EMU, WMU, should get up to a potential 13 MAC wins. Sweep one of UT/OU/Kent and that's 14 wins which should earn a MAC title and No. 1 seed.

While some might lament playing Miami, BG, EMU, WMU only once, I say the opposite particularly for Miami and BG. Akron has struggled against far less talented teams than projected for both this season.

It looks like inflation has finally caught up to Zips basketball.  I just looked at my season ticket renewal (general admission) and it is $100, up from the $60 it has been for years.  I think I can live with $6.25 a game!

I just noticed that the ticket site says " All season tickets include one (1) parking pass per account."

BG being good at basketball prediction - a tale as old as time

They had one surprisingly good year under Huger. They have pretty much underachieved every year since.

The MAC looks to be very weak at the top this coming year. Even Akron or Ohio, who look to be the favorites heading into this season, would probably only be 3rd or 4th in the MAC if this was 5-6 years ago. The MAC is full of cupcakes these days. If we can't win it outright, we don't deserve the meaningless regular season title. I say meaningless because without the NIT auto-bid, what value does a regular season title even have?

Hasn't that how it normally has been. The easy work around for that is if you want 4 tickets for 2 adults and 2 kids, you create 2 accounts and buy them that way.

I have no access to other sites yet (most have not posted) but it will be interesting to see - among Akron, Ohio, Toledo, Kent and maybe Miami (if you think they will be pretty good) - which of those  teams play all four of EMU, WMU, UB, NIU twice. That's 8 pretty sure wins, at least 7 if you want to drop an upset in there.

My guess is Toledo will be gifted with that foursome and perhaps Central, which will vault the Chippewas back into the Top 4 as they were last season.

Last year we lost to both Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. Why are you trying to count wins before games are played? Nothing is a guaranteed.

I don't see any team in the MAC like those Buffalo teams of a few years back where they're head and shoulders better than every team. No team is too good that it makes me scared to play them. In fact, I'd prefer a 'tougher' schedule. We play enough cupcakes OOC. Why would I want to play more during conference play?

Glad to hear effort is being made ... Zips must have a truly strong rep nationally that Akron can't land one of these games. Still say Zips should tie in a BB game with any of these $$$ football games Akron annually plays. Likely the only way for Zips to get one of these teams on the court ... even on the road.
