Let'sGoZips94
Announcers: "I was pretty good at math until they took the numbers out of it and it became calculus." Funny - Kent has never had that problem. Numbers and alphabet are both a struggle for them.
LZIp
Lyles hitting these 3s are crazy lol. Props to him for adding it to his game, though I’d honestly probably prefer he be a banger down low.
Let'sGoZips94
Lyles 4 for 5 from 3. Did not have Lyles become a 3 point assassin on my bingo board.
zippy5
Need to go to a zone or something, they could score underneath (and have) every trip if they wanted to
1981 grad
I thought Lyles would be a presence under the boards but he and James Okonkwo have shown very little offensive skills in the paint. Went from one extreme with Freeman to zip in the paint from our centers.

The Zips trap zone leads us vulnerable to the offensive rebound.

Zippy87
I just realized 7 of the 10 who have played tonight are 6'3" or shorter.

1981 grad
Scott: box out!!! If I am Groce I would run a tape of this game and teach these guys to put a body on them to slow them down. The rebounding effort is pathetic. We are short but we can still box out.

He's great at running the pick & roll & can get down low almost anytime he wants but he must've missed ~7 or 8 shots in the paint last night. He's gotta get those to go down. I noticed last year - and I'm almost positive I posted about it - that in some random pregame warmup Amani was absolutely stroking 3's. IIRC he hit 9 in a row from the corner & none of them even hit the rim. Also, after we first saw he had signed out of Columbus Beechcroft (IIRC he was a surprise late addition to the '22 class?) I remember us finding Amani's high school highlights & we thought his game looked stretch 4 - at the time we were crossing our fingers for our next Xeyrius Williams. It's good to see him start doing that at this level! He could be quite a weapon in the MAC - but, as someone mentioned above, right now it looks like we really need him banging down low.

Likewise. I was surprised Ryan Prather & Darrion Baker transferred out and equally surprised Tavari stayed. Having said that, he is but one micro-adjustment away from averaging >10PPG... but I thought the same thing last year. He gets off good shots but doesn't (yet🤞) have that knack for getting them to fall. Edited November 13 by Blue & Gold
Let'sGoZips94
10 days to figure out how to box out & out effort the opponent, regardless of size. What's Zeke Marshall doing? Can we borrow him for practice?

They were shorter and less athletic than we are but they were sound fundamentally & it made for a decent game. Box out!!!
