gwebb1994 Posted April 30 Report Posted April 30 Hello - Just registered to tell you all you are getting a quality person. Dr. Tire is very approachable and yes, brings energy. GW, like most smaller private liberal arts schools, is having big financial challenges, which he dealt with here from day one. We are also in the midst of a Presidential search on campus as well, this is a critical time for the future of the school. He picked the right time to strike oil and move up the chain. We wish him well. He really didn’t do much hiring, he did hire Cris Reisert as football HC (from Tiffin up your way) to replace the young juggernaut Tre Lamb (now already HC at Tulsa) and he just hired Penn State assistant Terri Williams as head women’s hoops HC. The financial resources at GW, for a D1 program, are scarce, which made his job, especially hiring/fundraising, challenging to say the least. I read some posts mentioning a thin budget at Akron. Goodrich can easily adapt and get your fundraising apparatus kicked into gear. Go Dawgs. Go Zips. 4 4 Quote
Dr Z Posted April 30 Report Posted April 30 With his background in marketing, I'm looking forward to a rebranding. 1 Quote

clarkwgriswold Posted Monday at 05:27 PM Report Posted Monday at 05:27 PM Here's today's fluff piece from the Beacon on Goodrich's introductory presser- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2025/05/12/andrew-goodrich-akron-athletic-director-press-conference/83561408007/ Quote
72 Roo Posted Monday at 05:58 PM Report Posted Monday at 05:58 PM I watched Goodrich's presser and was underwhelmed. That does not mean I think he is not up to the task. He just didn't say anything. No one in the room was inspired. That was reflected in the fact that only one question was asked from the crowd and that was from Dave Skozen (sp?) our play by play voice. I did like that he emphasized performance. Still there was no motivational vision, no claiming Akron is a sleeping giant or a dream job for anyone on the way up. Of course it isn't, but the faithful love to hear we can have a glorious future. He did offer lots of praise for RJ Nemer. No mention of our high achieving programs like MBB, MSoccer, WLax. But he also didn't mention the problematic ones either. No mention of football, facilities, budget or debt. That's probably a good thing if he doesn't have a clear plan this early in his tenure. I expected more because, like most Zip fans, I am holding out hope for a better future in all sports, but especially football. 3 Quote
NYC ZIP Posted Tuesday at 12:27 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 12:27 AM He certainly emptied the board room quote bucket. He did mention increasing attendance and community engagement which could certainly help in several ways. 1 Quote

ZipsBBjunkie Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Heard there’s been quite the exodus of Guthrie’s LT / hires from the staff side including Marcus Jennings, Camden Stockton and Candace Smith. Should set up Goodrich nicely to quickly bring in his own people and get to work. Quote
72 Roo Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago I just texted Camden yesterday. He was on vacation and did not mention leaving his position. If he does I would regret it. He was good at what he did. He also did a lot with the little he was given. As the basketball season wound down we started to see some marketing. Camden directed a lot of it. 1 Quote
ZipsBBjunkie Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Maybe AD will make a run at keeping him which could be a good thing to keep momentum. 1 Quote
zippy-claws Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago I'd hate to see Markus go, but since he was either not considered for the AD job, or interviewed and didn't land it, I wouldn't blame him. Candace had already left for a better gig at the end of basketball season. I certainly hope we see a move as far as Women's Administrator goes. Someone who takes a full-time job then dedicates herself to getting a law degree on the U's dime is not needed. An administrator who actually shows up at women's events would be refreshing! And I agree with @72 Roo, Camden was the driving force towards some marketing efforts at the end of the basketball season. Meanwhile the marketing department of 2 was "out to lunch". 2 Quote
