There is genuine optimism when you look at this schedule. But the MAC has got to have its head examined to have put one of the best rivalries in the conference on November 11, a Tuesday night. You would think that they could learn from the basketball rivalry and put this game in mid-October

They have ruined rivalries like this for years now.

Listen carefully everyone. I've said this before but it doesn't seem to be sinking in. The people who run college athletics simply don't care about the in person fan experience. It's almost completely about TV, boozers and degenerate gamblers. As soon as you accept that, you will feel less disappointed when you see leaders do stupid things.

Heard spring practice starts this week and absolutely nothing from media or the school/athletic department. How hard would it be to put an iPhone in Joe’s face and just get a couple comments about the start of camp? They haven’t even announced practice dates or spring game have they?

I've been saying it for well over a decade now ... that would require people giving a damn.

I thought he announced that he was coming back

I think that was an old tweet, or he used a picture of himself in an Akron uniform to announce he was signing with an agent, or something like that. But hopefully I’m wrong & he’s a Zip this year.

Looks like they pulled him out of the front row at a Willie Nelson concert.

Looks like a Blue/White game? I think last year they just called it a practice also but it was mostly live action in game type situation but they didn’t keep score

I still miss the sale the athletic department used to have in conjunction with the spring game.  You could get some decent gear out of that sale.  The grab bags were also a fun deal, especially if you wanted to add to your collection of Matthew Wilson bobbleheads!

Agree. As a former OT with a big waist and even bigger feet, I enjoyed shopping Zips gear that actually fit.

Plus it was great to pick up cleats for my three boys. Cheaper than Dicks and in sweet Akron colors.

I used to work around the yard in a Bowden Football camp t-shirt I got in one of those grab bags.  It was not a good advertisement for Bowden's camps!

It would be great to bring that back. It’s call fan involvement. Just like if they did any brief coaches or player interviews after practices and/or games. Create some interest. When fans get to know, or learn something about the players and coaches they are more likely to have a connection with the program and get involved. This leads to interest, ticket sales, merchandise buying etc etc. I’m continually amazed why this isn’t done. Give an intern an iPhone and take 15 minutes before or after practice then post on social media - it’s really not that hard!

Sports that outraised football on the day of Giving:

Baseball

Golf

Men's basketball

Men's soccer

Women's basketball

Don't worry, a couple trips to P4 schools will cover it and then some.
