Looks even worse now that season ticket holder seats have been made available for public purchase. Hopefully there's a lot of walk up sales tomorrow but I'm not confident in that. It's too bad but I'm gonna choose to focus on the game! 1 2 Quote

St. Louis and Furman are currently tied for having the longest current unbeaten streaks. Amazing that St. Louis won 10 national titles between 1959 and 1973. https://slubillikens.com/news/2025/12/4/mens-soccer-msoc-preview-billikens-zips-clash-for-college-cup-berth.aspx SERIES HISTORY -- SLU leads 8-5-1 in a series that dates back to 1960, though Akron is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings. -- The squads met earlier this year in Akron, with the Zips coming away with a 3-0 victory. Akron opened the scoring with a goal on a penalty kick at the 33:11 mark. The Zips tacked on two more in the second half, scoring in the 62nd and 67th minute for the 3-0 final. -- The last SLU win in the series came on Aug. 29, 2003, a 1-0 victory on a neutral field in Charlottesville, Va. -- The Billikens' last win against the Zips in Akron was in 1989, 1-0 on a game-winner by John Johnson. Actually, SLU leads the series history 7-5-1 and 2-0-0 in the NCAAT ('71 and '75). Time to claw another one of those losses back! We are 3-0-1 against them in the past four matches. https://gozips.com/news/2025/12/5/mens-soccer-akron-hosts-saint-louis-in-ncaa-tournament-quarterfinals https://gozips.com/news/2025/9/22/mens-soccer-akron-hosts-saint-louis-in-top-25-showdown 1 Quote
TennZip Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Since I grew up in Stow, I obviously love the Zemanski jersey behind Coach Embick in this video. and I always love to hear @fknbuflobo tell the story about how Caleb Porter's first action as Akron U. head coach was to travel to Stow, Ohio. Ben Zemanski had committed to play soccer for Akron when Lolla was the coach. Caleb went to sit down with Ben Zemanski and Dan Zemanski to convince them that Akron was still the best choice for Ben's college career. Ben Zemanski was a great midfielder and he was a building block on those excellent teams from 2006-2009. 1 Quote

One might call them the godfather of college soccer. Haven't won a title in 50 years, though. Let's make sure they stay at 10 as we pursuit our 2nd Star. Edited 12 hours ago by Let'sGoZips94 Quote

Zips1991 Posted 46 minutes ago Author Report Posted 46 minutes ago I looked up our previous elite 8 home matches to see what the attendance was at each. I didn't write them down but they were roughly 4,200 (2009), 3,400 (2010), and 3,000 (2015). What do we think the attendance will be today? For reference, last weekend was 1,344. Quote
AkronAlumnus Posted 45 minutes ago Report Posted 45 minutes ago Nervous for today, nonetheless, see everyone at the game. Quote
