I wanna puke. Plus Maryland is about to go down as well.

Maryland did lose.

Yeah, I am nauseous too.

Not much else could have gone wrong for us in that second half.

Soccer is wild. Making one team play with one less player for 25+ minutes because of a play where the player was pretty clearly just trying to kick the ball is just crazy to me. Doesn't happen in any other sport.

Saint Louis has to be one of the lamest teams I've ever seen from a sportsmanship perspective. Did it against Bucknell, too.

Nah weak take.  SL won they can celebrate accordingly.

SERIES HISTORY
-- SLU leads 8-5-1 in a series that dates back to 1960, though Akron is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings.

Dude, you totally jinxed us! I tried to correct it, but the soccer gods were watching and made us pay in a very cruel way.

Nah, weak take. Act like you've been there before.

Nothing more classy and humble than Barry Sanders just handing the ball to the referee. Even if it was the first time, It showed that he belonged there, not necessarily that he had been there before.

I hope Georgetown has the opportunity to pound St. Louis.

I don't even care about celebrations, but celebrate with your fans and teammates. Just classless.

I don’t have a problem with them celebrating, we would probably do the same thing. If they didn’t score that third goal what would we have done in OT? I understand parking the bus after the red card even though I hate it, but I can’t imagine what attack we would even try to drum up to get a golden goal

What a heartbreaking loss that was!

It was all right there for the Zips to take.

Much appreciation for the really good senior class!

Thanks for the memories, boys!

The very harsh, straight red card on Matt Dreas killed the match.

I certainly hope we wouldn't have behaved the way they did in the video @Sergeant Zipshared above. I'd be embarrassed of my school.

Okay yeah the getting in Morck’s face is dumb but in terms of taunting the fans after the 3rd goal is normal

Wow….a disappointing game, more like a disappointing half.  I am not usually positive but if you would have told me that Akron would make it to the elite eight at the beginning of the year, I would have been elated.  Soccer is a brutal sport.  The best team doesn't always win.  The dominant team doesn’t always win.  Losing any player would have been tough but losing Dreas was a backbreaker.  He is a wonderful player and is able to do some much for the team.   I hated the style of our penalty kick (see my post above) but at the end of the day - if we played with 10 men for any length of time we were going to lose.  It just is tough because the bracket really broke Akron’s way this year.  It is so tough to win a championship in soccer.  One day we will get a second star but unfortunately not this year.  I have no complaint with the players today (besides the penalty kick).  I just think this wasn’t meant to be.

The portal hasn’t been too bad for us in recent years. If we can keep most of the talent that isn’t graduating I still think we can build upon this. Maybe a new stretch like the mid 2010s

Better Zips teams than this one did not make it this far.  We have been lucky this postseason.

The pain comes from the knowledge that this is the year when somebody is going sneak off with the CCup..

it could have been us.

I think the outlook for 2026 Zips Men's Soccer is bright. This was a very successful season. Qualifying for the exclusive 4-team Big East Tournament by winning the last regular season game on the road at Xavier and getting to the NCAA Elite 8 are huge accomplishments.

I feel awful that our seniors - Mitch Budler, Daragh Reilly, Ashton Kamdem, and Stefan Dobrijevic - who have done so much for us and deserved a trip to the College. Thank you all for your time at Akron. It has been a pleasure watching and supporting you all. BEST WISHES!!! Once a Zip Always a Zip!!! See you around!
