kreed5120 Posted Friday at 06:26 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:26 PM (edited) The fact he was a bit reluctant to say if anyone was coming back when he was interviewed led me to believe it was likely we would lose at least one of, if not both, of Eric and Young. I'm not really surprised. It's not like Bud, Ford, and perhaps even Groce didn't have conversations with the players about their futures leading up to Groce's departure. Next year will definitely be a much different team as nobody left I feel you can say you can build around that player, at least for the coming season. Edited Friday at 06:29 PM by kreed5120 Quote

GJGood Posted Saturday at 04:02 PM Report Posted Saturday at 04:02 PM (edited) The discussion of Brayden Gross, the D2 freshman of the year, got me thinking. Gannon University, from not very far away in Erie, PA plays for the national championship tomorrow . I don’t know much about them. Could any of these guys have the ability to fit and play at the Zips established level? I would think if any of them were looking to transfer up to D1 that we would be just the type of program/ culture they would be looking for. Edited Saturday at 04:50 PM by GJGood Quote

ZipForNow Posted Saturday at 06:39 PM Report Posted Saturday at 06:39 PM Testing the portal waters is the new normal. On the face of it, Eric and Sharron, while we love them, did not do all that much. It’s their youth and upside that almost mandates seeing if they can cash in. I hope we can sell the culture: you will get decent NIL, will graduate, play professionally, and have a finance guru to help you out long term. That’s a nice package. 2 Quote

Very few teams are going to put the ball in the hands of a 30-percent 3-point shooter, even if he is 6-3, plays great D and can get to the rim. Athletically he can play on a power conference team, but he has limitations at that level. Quote

There are more teams with deeper pockets this season. I think someone will over pay for his services. Quote
72 Roo Posted Monday at 01:11 PM Report Posted Monday at 01:11 PM I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of the trite, sanctimonious messages athletes post when they go into the portal. They talk about God guiding them. They talk about the everlasting bonds of fellowship they have with their teammates. They thank their coaches for developing them into the men they are today. Then they leave. After great thought and consultation I'm offering this simple sample announcement: "I'm in the portal. I may come back. The most money determines what I'll do." This hits at the truth. Saves a lot of time. And eliminates hypocrisy. Please use for all future announcements as my gift to portal entrees. No charge. 1 1 2 Quote

Yeah, I’m on a different page than many of you. I hate seeing the top talent from our conference get lured away. I want to win the MAC at its strongest. 4 2 Quote
