Both had millions of viewers and both of their followers fit the demographic of someone who would be interested in this promotion. Someone like Big Cat might have bought 18 tickets, which is probably the most, but he might have had several hundred people that put him down as a referral. The drawing was always going to favor influencers because of the referral piece. They have more reach than Joe from Tallmadge. 1 Quote

(not rhetorical. sincere question) I'm going to believe it is ☺️ In my opinion they legitimately picked the winner at random, then chose those two and 7 other random people for the "final 10." Of course with the referral bonus one of the two bigger names could have won. But I believe the winner will be absolutely legitimate. 1 1 Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted yesterday at 12:51 PM Report Posted yesterday at 12:51 PM (edited) Really hope Big Cat wins it. Could easily justify picking him if his entries are indeed astronomically more than the field. Akron needs the publicity. The accounting school should be focused on $$$ and the end goal of the drawing needs to be whatever brings in the most $$$. Edited yesterday at 12:59 PM by Let'sGoZips94 2 Quote
Ham Posted yesterday at 12:53 PM Report Posted yesterday at 12:53 PM All this hype has been great for the program and the University, and I am thrilled for it. Would it kill the staff to feed us just a little of what to expect from this group of players? Where is Welker? Quote

I'm really happy it wasn't McAfee, but Big Cat seems like an okay dude. As far as Barstool goes at least. He'll give us a ton of publicity. Not only now but for the foreseeable future as it really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I'm hoping this brings in a lot of excitement for the home opener and I'm strongly considering heading to the game myself with my boys. We aren't local, but I've been meaning to get them back for a game. Hopefully the casual fans around Akron are excited too. 2 Quote

There will be a winner and a happy ending eventually. The losers will got through some level of torture like being forced to watch Faust's last season uninterrupted. Fair enough, but if they watch long enough, they'll get to witness a truly sublime moment in collegiate sports history: Gerry being victoriously carried off the field on the shoulders of two linemen after the Zips (1-10) escaped the "winless bowl" against Tom Lichtenberg's Ohio Bobcats (0-11)! 1 2 Quote

It really was a good idea to have a semifinalist field of 10 drawing, being that one of them dropped out for not wanting to participate (for a variety of possible reasons). I could just about guarantee that if it had been just a single winner, that's the person who would have won and might have been a dud. And this way some of the high profile outsiders get picked to advance and add to the buzz. Quote

I think that's why they expanded it to announcing finalists, because it increased the odds of the "big names" staying in consideration. Quote

This would be my guess as well. I'm traveling today so I haven't listened to any podcasts or anything, but based off what I've seen online there is talk about Akron football. Maybe not to the level it was two weeks ago, but much more than what it would have been had they just announced some random winner yesterday. 1 Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Would also be cool if Bordeaux won and they did some sort of NCAA Football video game promotion where Akron's playbook updates to whatever Bordeaux comes up with or some sort of Ultimate Team purchase of an Akron legend (Frye, JT, Dwight, Hixon, Blackburn, etc.) and partial proceeds go to the University. 2 Quote

If they look close enough, Jason Taylor is one of the players carrying Faust. 1 Quote

Would be really cool but College footballs live content team is extremely poor. Bordeaux also burned his bridge with EA after the whole microtransaction in dynasty fiasco. I bet Bordeaux will do some sort of video/series regardless if he wins Quote

All these micro transactions in games you pay $70 for is ridiculous. 1 Quote
