UAZipster0305 Posted Thursday at 02:48 PM Report Posted Thursday at 02:48 PM I think this is going to be a much more challenging match than it appears on "paper". I will be happy with any win, regardless of how ugly. Sometimes winning ugly shows character; this is one of those games. 1 Quote

csims0917 Posted Thursday at 06:23 PM Report Posted Thursday at 06:23 PM It's getting late early for Akron Soccer in the Big East. Need every win we can down the stretch. 1 Quote

Plus, Creighton and Xavier play each other tonight and Creighton plays Georgetown (next week, I think). But we have to take care of business to get it done. Looks like the MLB is going to try and force the Guards ALCS Game 4 tonight at 8. Watch Akron soccer for the first half, set up dual screens at half time, watch both from that point on. Then again, I have no idea what window of opportunity the MLB is seeing tonight so we may just being able to give sole focus to Zips soccer all evening. Quote
Zips1991 Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Looks like there's a chance the Zips match could be affected by storms also. Not sure why they couldn't move it up a couple hours. Georgetown did with their match tonight. They started at 5 pm instead of 7 pm. Quote

This is the first time I've seen Providence's field. Not a fan of artificial turf fields for soccer. The fields in the Big East in general have not impressed me. There was definitely a field upgrade when Akron joined the Big East. Quote
Let'sGoZips94 Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago How in the world did Kaminsky not stop that? Akron has dominated possession and find themselves down 0-1 just prior time the half. 1 Quote

Let'sGoZips94 Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Please tell me we have a true striker coming in next year. These attempts are pathetic. Quote
WeRise225 Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago It was ugly but it’s in the back of the net so Quote

MDZip Posted 12 hours ago Report Posted 12 hours ago Nice game from Dreas again, lucky to get the tie. Still the only Big East team the Zips have never beaten. Quote
Zips1991 Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Horrible match but I guess it's good that we didn't lose. However, we once again, now don't control our own destiny in the Midwest division. Quote

I was frustrated at the time (still am) so I overlooked those. But, we wouldn't have gotten any result from the match if not for Brett. 1 Quote
72 Roo Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago This was a poor performance by us. There is no way Providence should be playing even with us. I agree with another poster that we get nothing from our wings. I would take it a step further and say we get nothing from our midfield. That is the difference between this year's team and last year's. Our defense is so good it covers for the weakness of our midfield in scoring. It is frustrating because we can control the game until we get in the attacking third. Then we want the perfect shot and we dick around with the ball for forever. Take the shot the D gives you regardless of the clear path to the goal. The shot can be redirected or played off deflection or own-goaled. This team can be very good, but games like tonight drive you nuts. This should have been a win. 1 Quote

It was rainy and the Providence goalkeeper was making his first start. Plus, he looked shaky a few times on fairly routine shots. Quote
