    Just reading this thread. I agree Dwight was the most talented and athletic player to lace 'em up (#Zipemup) for UA. He led the nation in INTs his senior season and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. If I recall correctly he had SIX interceptions just in the month of September. In four games! He came to Akron from Detroit because of his size, a 5-10 safety probably could not be recruited to a P-5 school, but he had great strength, and obviously great hands -- always wondered how he would have done on the offensive side of the game.

    I'm the LEAST contradictory person (and most humble I might add) on this board, but I can't help wondering if OU's all-time scoring leader, Dave Jamerson from Stow -- who made 15 3-pointers in a game once is not also the school's three-point shooting leader, at least in total 3 FGs made.     Lou was a fine or better coach for St John's in the Big East for many years, and from all appraisals a fine human being. I had a chance to meet and watch Lou's son Chauncey Orr after he transferred from BGSU to Hawaii Pacific U. A really good family! 😭

    I live in a Mountain West football city and believe me, we've been hearing that story about the Ninth Isle team for over a decade. They're still trying to recover from hiring the Bishop Gorman high school coach a while back, but the new connection with an (almost?) NFL franchise and America's nicest stadium allows more hype than ever. They used to fill the Silver Bowl with Randall Cunningham, but haven't had success since.

    MSU Bulldogs debuted (I think) in the poll this week at #23. At 8-0, they're a 7.5 pt pick on the road at Minniesota today. Our performance was well within the standard deviation. They might well end up an eight seed or better, i.e., top half of the bracket.

    The CSU game ought to be much more competitive than the men's contest with Jackson State -- if not it will raise questions about Groce's squad...or coach Jackson's depending on the circumstances...hope I've not confused anyone! lol. Cleveland State is now 7-1 with their only loss to top-10 Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. They own an overtime win over usually nationally ranked DePaul in Chicago. Also defeated Oakland, Akron's only loss by 23 points at the Woolstein Ctr. Vikings are led by Jr guard Destiny Leo from Willowick with 17.8 ppg, a 39% 3-point shooter who's made 26 of 27 FTs. However, they have a long rotation with 11 players averaging over 8 minutes per game. I suspect Cleveland State would be near the top of this year's MAC WBB standings if they were members. This game should tell a lot for both teams.
