And if somehow they end up in the NIT, they won't be on the road.
-
I think that's true. It looks like the only way CMU makes it is via a three-way tiebreaker between UMass, CMU, and Buffalo. CMU win and Buffalo loss = Three way tie between UMass, CMU, and Buffalo with UMass getting #7 and CMU getting #8 while Buffalo would miss out. Buffalo is in an interesting position as they can finish anywhere from 6th to 9th.

I know. Zips tried to make the games closer at the end but all the fans got upset because they weren't putting their foots on the opponents necks.
-
I'm similarly worried given how few close games we've played and won this year.

Mr. Joe Dunn.

Regardless of how earnest Miami's efforts were in creating a challenging schedule, they've clearly benefited from the eventual result. To their credit, it's tough to go undefeated even against a weak schedule as there are always down nights. The Zips have certainly told us how difficult it is to find quality opponents over the years. Another aspect of their schedule that many seem to overlook is how it prepared them for the month of March. Facing tough competition steels you for high pressure tournament games. They have not had that experience and it may well come back to bite them.

True, but just ask him about Alderaan.

Saving people a click into the cesspool that is Reddit... Somebody on the Miami message board paid for the sub and this is the list they gave: No available responses: Pittsburgh Wisconsin Marquette USC Sacred Heart Oregon Ohio State Mississippi State Florida Response(s) but no agreement: Michigan State UCLA Boise State Grand Canyon Kansas (“We’ll need to look at next year”) BYU Utah Illinois (“I need to get two high NET games 300+ before I would think about playing you.”) Virginia Tech Nebraska Not sure this helps Miami OH's case at all. I certainly hope it helps expose how stupid CBB scheduling is, but Miami OH's schedule is their own fault. We don't know what Miami OH wanted for terms - buy game, home & home, etc. - and after they failed with these schools, they turned around and scheduled 3 non DI teams and Wright State as their toughest controllable OOC opponent.

Along with Frietag's status (if Buffalo makes it), this is going to be a storyline to watch next week. He obviously came back in, but he is seemingly playing less than 100%. It's one thing to play through an injury with a few days rest in between, it's another to play through an injury 3 straight nights.
-
Wild stat I just came across - CMU is 1-14 on the road this season.
-
Im not real familiar with Green Street Stadium at St V/M but it is also primarily a football stadium so im guessing dimensions will be the same. Also, this move is probably temporary as St V/M is replacing their turf this year necessitating the move.
-
Buffalo has to lose for CMU to make it.
-
As I posted before, last year the MAC posted its schedule on March 5th. It seems premature to jump to any conclusions.
-
Straight up, I have zero source material. Totally a gut feeling.

correct. all eyes turn to buffalo. couldn't accept the idea Buffalo would beat Toledo.
-
This is the most interesting season the MAC has had in years and Miami and Akron are the reasons why.
-
Bruce Pearl name drops Akron. I had a Miami OH honk on X get his sweater in a tizzy because he set up a GoFundMe to cover Steele's fine and I said it was an absurd thing to do. Very early in the exchange, he said that Akron wishes they were getting half the publicity that Miami OH's getting. I told him that almost every single conversation regarding Miami OH typically involves someone mentioning that Akron is probably the best team in the MAC, so thanks for the free publicity lol.

I don't think Freitag will return and if he does, I think he will be limited, so I'm rooting for Buffalo #7 and UMass #8. Miami potentially getting UMass, Toledo, then us as their path would be pretty grueling from a physical perspective.
-
Yep, I would think closer to 4 than 5 but depends on how many fouls and reviews there are in the first two games. 😅

The thread topic is "MAC 2025-26 SZN". We have individual game threads and "2025-26 Season in process" threads to discuss the Zips specifically. The purpose of this thread is general MAC discussion. Edit: kreed beat me to it
