  2. They really should better advertise any and all matching gifts by listing them on the home page. It might be a challenging concept for some to understand, but not everyone is on social media and even many who are aren't checking their feed regularly to notice.
  3. Also, men's soccer and women's swimming have had the same coach for a long time which keeps alumni more active.
  4. Hmm. How to say this in a tactful way. We aren't generating NFL players, and the rest, judging by recent APR scores, aren't exactly going on to great industry careers either
  5. I noticed it last year that soccer has done a great job of keeping former players engaged with the program. Them and the swimming and diving team seem to have great participation. The soccer donations just typically come in at a higher dollar amount. On the flipside it's disappointing that football doesn't do better. There are 3x-6x more former student athletes in football compared to the other sports, but the number of donors is relatively smaller. At least for day of giving. Not sure what's done differently that makes select sports former athletes stay involved and other not so much.
  6. That's one way to fund a training table.
  7. Soccer goal was $30k when I saw it earlier. They must've upped it because they were doing so well.
  8. Reach out privately and ask if they'll honor the match to make your donation go even further.
  9. Yes - I'm a little salty they announced the 'match' after I made a significant donation, oh well...
  10. This is a great campaign and I hope every Zip fan contributes what they can. It is interesting to note soccer has a goal of $60,000, which is nearly half of the goal for our 17 varsity sports. BTW, they will make it with a matching gift they have received. Soccer is truly elite at Akron. The commitment the university and Andrew Goodrich have made to it will allow us to compete at the highest level. Contributions to all sports will enable us to keep raising the profile of all programs. It's a good day to be a Zip!
  11. There's real momentum behind Ford/the program.
  12. Somebody donated 10K to basketball. They've already hit their goal!
  13. Today
  14. Great win! (also, it should obviously be "flies" not "fly's". 🫠
  15. Thanks, just gave to hoops and FB!!
  16. Day of giving has arrived. https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/ATHDoG26
  17. Transfer portal is now officially closed. Players can still sign, but nobody else can enter.
  18. "Big" doesn't just mean post players anymore, either. The average height of the Sweet Sixteen has increased every year for the past X amount of years. Wemby isn't on every team, which means the average height is increasing because winning teams have taller guards & wings.
  19. In worse news it was the first collegiate home run she ever hit. But in excellent news of the day the Zips took down Ohio State 9-5. Fly the flag!
  20. No doubt, the MAC is still a guard league. But a MAC coach (I believe Charlie Coles) once said "The MAC is a guard league ... but good MAC guards win with good MAC post guys." Now, in his era, one good 6-7 post guy (Wally, Ira Newbill, Alex Shorts, Ohio w/Trent or Brandon Hunter) was all they needed. Now, even at the mid-major level, most good teams not only have guards, they have TWO post guys. That's why you see so many teams loading up with bigs, even at this level. As the season wears down, good bigs start to play up.
