From the presser, it sound like it is a fluid situation (14 minute mark)-
-
Here's the presser where he mentions it at about the 14 minute mark-
-
Interesting...I wonder if there just weren't many minutes there for him with Tavari, Sharron, Shammah, and Bowen all playing ahead of him. 3 of the 4 will be gone next year, though.
- Today
-
Interesting. I wonder what is behind this decision.
-
My uninformed opinion is Groce was like honest with him and told him it was going to be challenging for him to earn minutes given our depth at guard. Probably gave him the option of mop up duty or preserving a year of eligibility.
-
Falls into category of "two things can be true at same time." He's an amazing talent but not ready to play at this level.
-
Our team was on the floor.

Cody Head is redshirting.
-
Cody Head is redshirting along with the freshmen. It could potentially be pulled down the line but it is the plan for now.

To tute my own horn I said at half-time that the Zips would need to rely on defense to create offense, which they did. I still have some concerns when we face more cohesive teams with better guard play. It won't be as easy for us to generate turnovers and score in the open floor. We should obviously look to run whenever we can, but it's going to be important for us to improve our half court offense as the season progresses. We can't expect our opponents to turn it over 20 times per night.

Kent losing means from my Zippy colored glasses that the MAC really went 6-7 on the road. I don't really follow women's hoops. I'm not sure if Kent was expected to be like a Akron/Miami on the men's side as a step up from the competition or if they were just expected to be marginally better than everyone else.
-
Unfortunately I don’t think the MAC-SBC is benefiting the women as the men. They went 5-8 on the road which is decent but the mac preseason favorite Kent got smoked by SBC favorite JMU by 32. Hopefully the home slate goes better but it feels like the gap is wider

Could this be why Cody Head hasn't played?
-
Won the game without Nate.
-
Soccer wins, Basketball wins, can the "Fighting Zips Football Squad make it a trifecta" tonight? Read that part in quotes as if its coming from Michael Reghi
-
I certainly hope they analyze things deeper than MAC POY.
-
We don't win that game without MMK. He had a few hustle plays on both sides that either led to baskets or gave us the ball back.
-
A 14 point homer?
-
We got our revenge on JMU. Now Princeton is next

The Princeton Tigers visit the JAR this Saturday to start their season. The Tigers were favored to win the Ivy League last year but fell far short of expectations resulting in many roster and coaching staff changes. Usually picked in the preseason to be at the top of the Ivy League, this year's preseason poll picked them to come in 4th. As you may recall, the Zips got hosed at Princeton last season after it took the officials seven minutes to reverse their call and give the Tigers a 3 pointer to win the game rather than the two pointer called on the floor. Here are some articles with previews for the Tigers- https://www.dailyprincetonian.com/article/2025/08/princeton-sports-news-mens-basketball-summer-review-2025-season-preview https://www.midmajormadness.com/ivy-league/31297/2025-26-ivy-league-preview

I didn't know there were transfer penalties still in existence.
