  1. Past hour
  2. The precedent was set today that the actions of previous regimes should not penalize the current roster. Whatever moral high horse you want to stand on is your choice, but I don't view accepting an inconsistent and undeserving punishment for the current staff & roster as morally just - especially from the morally bankrupt NCAA. The amount of times they've screwed over the University... F em. Auburn and NMSU weren't penalized for failing APRs in the same time frame as Akron, and the APR doesn't even work with the current model and landscape for college athletics. Akron has had YOY improvements under JoeMo that haven't been enough to pull us out of the hole Arth dug, so they've clearly been working towards correcting the problem. I also don't think Akron loses this case if they choose to fight it, especially if they were able to get the NCAA killer Dave Yost's assistance in the fight. A win vs the NCAA would be great publicity. Show me 7 automatic losses on this schedule. It's the most winnable schedule we've had in a long long time, and 6-6 should be the minimum threshold for success this year. Akron is known for having a losing football program - the PR can't get worse. Might as well try to get rid of the cloud hanging over the season. Joe Mo and player(s) have liked tweets today mentioning their BS punishment and suggesting that Akron should fight it. Coaching and playing with this looming over the program can't be fun or easy. Having a spine and standing up to the NCAA could give the program a jolt.
  3. The ABJ wouldn't give Akron a bad look in this case. Akron would be giving itself a bad look.
  4. While I like the schedule, that is extremely doubtful. Outside of Purdue I just don't see any Q1 win opportunities. Several Q2 and Q3 opportunities, but that isn't going to be enough given the lack of quality win opportunities in MAC play. We would probably need to win 30+ games before we could even enter the conversation. Not saying it's right, but its the reality of the situation based off how the committee has selected teams in the past.
  5. Erroneous post... it was for a low academic progress rate, not "bad grades"
  6. Only 6 non conference games 2 against non D1 But the other 4 are solid. The neutral and road games are really good. I like it a lot and think if we play our cards right might have a chance at large bid
  7. Yesterday
  8. Did we already know about Bucknell at home? That's a decent opponent.
  9. Nice to see there was still room for the Concord Grapes. Maybe we can return the home cooking we got at Princeton.
  10. I agree with everything you stated here. I just want to add that going to court would ultimately just lead to the ABJ publishing several stories on it, which just gives the school and program a bad look. Ultimately it's unlikely the Zips will win 6 games to make bowl eligibility anyway. We've already taken the brunt of the bad PR. No need to make it resurface when odds are we aren't going to a bowl regardless.
  11. Ah yes, the three stooges.
  12. I don't think fighting the post season ban is a fight worth having. Akron didn't live up to Akron's obligations as a member of the NCAA. Akron is getting punished for Akron's actions. Accepting punishment for wrongdoing is the adult thing to do. Another adult thing to do would be to learn from this lesson and get better, not call a lawyer. We're four months away from bowl season. The best we could hope for is to get a temporary injunction until the case could go to trial in 2026. Do you have any idea how full Federal Court dockets are? How long do you want this drama to go on until we ultimately lose a case? What if Akron loses the case and next year at this time we are having the same conversation? How is anyone being helped carrying on with this case? Adult conversation over.... Meetings over.
  13. I loathe the double non DI games, but the rest of this schedule is fantastic. James Madison & Princeton AT HOME to start the season is incredible. The Paradise Jam features 3 games, with Iona being the first game. They have a new head coach this year, so as long as Akron takes care of business, they will play the winner of Evansville/Oregon State. The other side of the bracket includes Green Bay, Yale, UMass, and Charleston, so there is some really good competition in the tournament that could be added to the schedule. Well done Groce & Co.
  14. Wow we get to play PENN STATE Shenango at home this year! https://gozips.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule
  15. Full non-conference schedule released. 11/3 James Madison 11/8 Princeton 11/12 Penn St Shenango 11/16 @Purdue 11/21 Iona @Paradise Jam (USVI) 11/22, 11/24 Paradise Jam 11/29 Milwaukee 12/3 Bucknell 12/6 @Tulane 12/13 Murray St (Las Vegas) 12/29 Concord 02/02 MAC-SB Challenge
  16. For someone who preaches "how does the University benefit the community", you sure are hellbent on making sure the University is stuck with the "banned from postseason play" label, which certainly does NOT benefit the community.
  17. Lt.Gov. Tressel should be pushing for the NCAA to #FreeAkron. Would also help if Senators Moreno and Husted got involved and VP Vance.
  18. Sunday home opener for the lady Zips is against Eastern Illinois. in last year’s contest , E. Illinois and the zips played to a 1-1 tie. Eastern Illinois opened their season last night with a 4-0 loss to Southern Illinois.
  19. I'd be difficult to prove damages when making a bowl game would cost the school more than it would make.
  20. They are really transforming Buchtel Commons. Lots of work to do but it’s going to be a much needed facelift
  21. I can agree with this. There already is a decent #FreeAkron campaign based on the precedent, too. If Akron is successful this year and ends up being bowl eligible or even in contention for the MAC Championship Game, look out. It'll be similar to the JMU postseason campaign from a couple years ago.
  22. I agree but we have to prove damages. If UA gets six wins then files for the injunction there will be a mass #FreeAkron campaign but we need something to kick that off. If they are going to stink or be modestly better, but not bowl eligible, then there's no reason to fight it.
  23. Why would we pay for a law firm to fight for a result that would cost us money?
  24. Akron needs to lawyer up and fight the postseason ban. Precedent was just set.
