I wouldn't touch that line with a 10 foot pole. CMU is more than capable of letting the Zips think they're competent.

If the stars align, I believe both Akron and Miami have teams capable of meeting/eclipsing the 2002 run by Kent State. That's how bullish I am on this BB season. Injuries have to be avoided, inevitable 'bad' games have to be overcome and so forth. But based on roster talent and returning experience both teams are loaded. Even a poor start out of the gate - remember Kent was 4-4 before they figured it out - can be overcome by either team. The sad part is, 2002 was the year the NCAA pimped the MAC, big time, and hasn't looked back. Bowling Green, had at least one power conference win and I believe, lost just nine games, and 3 of those were to Kent. Ball State that year had a huge non-conference with at least two and maybe 3 P5 wins. Marshall was loaded as well. It's assumed Kent would not have been an at-large w/o winning the 2002 MAC Tournament. That will likely be the case for Akron and/or Miami. Sad.

Someone official (member of coaching staff) sent this out today ...for remaining schedule Games Remaining: 10/3 vs St. Johns 10/7 @ Cornell 10/11 vs DePaul 10/17 @ Seton Hall 10/25 @ Xavier 11/1 vs Marquette 11/7 @ Creighton 11/13 - Big East Semi-Final (Maryland) 11/16 - Big East Final (Maryland)

All these guesses at the starting lineup are fun. Just remember that Eric Mahaffey was penciled into the starting lineup last year until a knee injury sidelined him for the season. Under Groce, whoever plays the best during practice gets playing time. Every minute of every practice is graded by the coaching staff. Outside of the point guard we have a team full of multidimensional players. It's going to be a fun season.

I would be stunned if Evan wasn't starting. If he was good enough to start 38 games in the Big 10, surely he is good enough to start in the MAC. IMO he will start at the 4. Stankovic was kind of a late add and probably needs more time to develop and learn Groce system. I wouldn't be surprised if both him and Evan start by the start of MAC play.

I'm really starting to get excited about the upcoming season. I assume Tavari and Amani are locked into the starting lineup. I suspect we may see Stankovic in the starting lineup (just like I expected Taylor Currie!). I've also heard he's closer to 6'6" than 6'8." That leaves spots for 2 guards/wings. I could see either Mahaffey in one of those roles. Does Sharon move into the starting lineup or does Shammah? This is much more fun than trying to figure out who's going to play with Malcolm Duvivier and Jimond. How far we've come.

Not exactly sure, but we are usually into conference tournaments when that comes out.

Last year, on the RPI Update site, there was a tournament projection page. Any idea when that page will be added for this year?

The email went out about the Tip-Off Reception on the 28th at 6:00 p.m. $25 for season ticket holders, $40 for everyone else.

It is now October. As of today, Zips are #17 RPI. Year in, year out, 85% - 95% of discretionary seeding by NCAA Tournament Committee goes according to RPI.

I guess Joe and Joe came to that conclusion and canceled the show this week. ?

The line is Zips +7.5 so that tells me that we have a chance. Would I take that bet…no.

If Florida Atlantic, Syracuse, and Penn State couldn't prepare Johnson to be a starting QB, it's asking a lot for Joe to do it. 😁 Ruggow is a redshirt freshman, so one week of prep isn't going to give him a fighting chance of beating a team like Toledo. We ride or die with Finley. Assuming he's healthy I expect a win this weekend. If he isn't, we'll punt a lot and lose by 24.

Just a reminder that the Zips have a game this week! Yikes, two days before homecoming and absolutely no chatter or interest.

The Big Ten is a good bet.The footprint the conference leads to money. Los Angeles has Hollywood money and West coast money. Seattle has big tech money. Oregon has Nike money. Cities like Philadelphia, New York, Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis have loads of money. Now that college football is about money, the more money you have, the better odds of success. The two biggest money schools in the SEC are Texas and TX A and M because they have oil money. The rest of the SEC only has car dealership money and that ain't that much in comparison. The Big Ten has a huge money advantage moving forward.

If Finley was still nursing an injury from the Duke game, why weren't the back ups better prepared? Toledo might have the best D in the MAC. A single dimension O was going to go no where. Our offensive genius could have come up with a back up plan to use Roggow and Johnson. Even at the same time. 👹
