  1. Past hour
  2. CBS Sports has Yale drawing St. John's and us vs. Wisconsin.
  3. I wore mine yesterday and it's probably my favorite piece of Zips gear I own because of both its comfort and versatility. Can easily layer it during the winter and its still breathable enough to wear during spring/fall.
  4. FWIW the new Academy Sports store is supposed to be opening this weekend at the N. Canton Strip. It's outside Akron city limits so not sure if they will have any Zips gear 🫤
  5. I mostly follow mid-major basketball so I asked chatGBT who Akron is most likely to face in round 1 and which of those opponents presents the most favorable matchup. ChatGBT didn't mention it but UNC NBA draft lottery player is out for the year. Best Matchups for Akron 1. Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball Why it favors Akron: Plays a slower, more half-court style Defense is usually solid but not overwhelming athletically Akron’s disciplined offense could operate comfortably Upset profile: Teams like Vanderbilt historically lose more 5-vs-12 games because they don’t overwhelm opponents physically. 2. North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball Why it could be manageable: Fast tempo but sometimes inconsistent shooting If Akron controls pace and limits transition, it becomes a half-court game UNC teams seeded around 5 sometimes have defensive lapses Risk: rebounding disadvantage. Tougher Matchups 3. Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball Why it’s difficult: Extremely athletic SEC roster Pressure defense and transition scoring Can overwhelm mid-majors physically Arkansas-type teams are usually under-seeded on the 5 line, making them dangerous. Worst Matchup St. John's Red Storm men's basketball Why it’s the hardest draw: Elite defensive pressure Forces turnovers and speeds teams up Physical rebounding team For a MAC champion like Akron, this is the exact style that causes problems—constant pressure and athletic depth. ✅ Best → Worst matchup order Vanderbilt (best) North Carolina Arkansas St. John’s (worst)
  6. I think they had to defend that play straight up because if the ball gets into Tavari’s hands a floater or lay up wins it just the same.
  7. Bud Wentz.
  8. Anyone else surprised they didn't have tighter defense on SS or even a double team? No defender(s) to be seen in this clip: I love that we didn't try to run some cute passing play that could have resulted in a turnover.
  9. By the way, wearing the long sleeve hoodie at the card shop today. Incredibly comfortable.
  10. Our FT shooting was absolutely abysmal during the tournament.
  11. 🫣🫣🤣😭😭
  12. Gracias
  13. Toledo played well the last 2-3 weeks of the regular season as well. I actually predicted they would knock off Miami and make the final. Obviously UMass beat them to the punch. Their NET is in the 130s because they frankly weren't very good November thru early February. Predictive metrics don't account for that.
  14. Any video out there of Groce's press conference? Haven't really seen any yet
  15. I know what was predicted, but Toledo played way above their NET 130 ranking if you ask me. Especially in the first half.
  16. Thank you. I wanted to post this 👇
  17. Not sure if it has already been mentioned, but Akron's 7 MAC Championships now tie them with Ohio, Kent State, and Ball State for the most all-time among MAC schools.
  18. Can someone repost the tweet where Tod calls Shammah's shot "lucky" I can't find it.
  19. Today
  20. 2 teams in the finals in the same day to boot. For what is considered to be the class of the MAC athletically, really poor showing from the Rocket faithful. Probably says more about their confidence in Kowalchoke than anything.
  21. Definitely felt like an 80/20 fan split. Honestly surprised Toledo didn’t have more fans there.
  22. Travis Steele can’t go to Cincinnati, he’s too busy drawing up plans for a new arena.
  23. 11,072 announced attendance. One of the largest crowds I can recall for a MAC Tourney Final, and ~9000 of those had to be Zips fans.
