  1. Past hour
  2. Didn't realize this, but Jay Shunnar is married to Cayleifh Griffin, who works on both the Cavs and T-Wolves TV broadcasts. Never hurts for Akron to get some additional exposure.
  3. I am a life long Republician and there is NO WAY I would ever vote for Vivek after his simplistic attitude towards higher education. Simply put, The University of Akron is now stronger academically than ever in its history. The strength of undergraduate/graduate programs in Engineering, Business, Nursing, Law, Psych, Speech Audiology, and even unheralded programs like Geology and PoliSc/Law are numerous (I have left out some other strong programs just for brevity). How many schools can boost the world's best program in any discipline? Admittedly The University bears some responsiblilty for not promoting itself as much as it should have given its strengths but the facts are still the same. In addition, The University is doing an excelllent job of producing "career-ready" graduates- not everyone but some of that blame is on the students for not taking advantage of opportunities provided by UA that are essential in today's more difficult job market. It is inexcusable for any public figure to take such a sophomoric rather than qualitative view of Universities. He has lost this Republician vote forever. I would rather be Forever A Zip!
  4. Today
  5. This is correct. One outing that benefitted all sports.
  6. I'll throw this out there - Amy Acton isn't the answer either. For as stupid as Vivek's comments are, Amy Acton was largely responsible for the totalitarian COVID shutdowns which severely harmed the University of Akron. Whatever anyone wants to think about the preventative measures at the time, it has since been proven just how big of a farce/scam COVID was and Acton led the charge with her totalitarian shutdowns. Neither candidate will have UA's best interests in mind, and Casey Putsch walks around with nuts on his head so he's questionable, too. Akron's mayor sucks, Cleveland's mayor sucks, Ohio's current governor sucks, Ohio's future governor candidates suck... Ohio politics are in the absolute crapper at the moment.
  7. Nice pickup by Balls there.
  8. 5 if what @clarkwgriswold said is true about a HS decommit.
  9. I think overall golf outing was happening with Kaulig support but not a bball specific one? Baseball was benefiting from what I know.
  10. Portal has ruined the continuity of our great scholarship chart, sad day
  11. Henderson posted a video on his IG story a week or so ago working out at our practice facility, so I am assuming he stayed.
  12. Following the previous coach who essentially ignored the state of Indiana for any type of recruiting, this is a welcomed addition by the Balls faithful I'd imagine.
  13. Hard to get a read on if this is a good pickup or not. On one hand he only played in garbage time. On the other hand Purdue was loaded so the fact he was burried on the depth chart doesn't necessarily mean he isn't good.
  14. That's news. My guess is the two guards stayed committed while the Vegas kid decommitted. Were Perkins & Henderson in attendance?
  15. Well, the name of the guy who committed this morning was actively out there while Dustin said he couldn't ID today's visit. That's a pretty strong indicator they're different players. I think it is promising Eric was there and disappointing and telling Sharron was not. Players I saw were Zach, Marvin, Chabi, Cody Head and two of the 3 red-shirts. I heard that 2 of 3 freshman commits have stayed committed while one decommitted, though I can't identify which.
  16. Realistically, I need to wait until we see the full roster. But I'm just gonna say that if we keep Eric, we're winning the MAC again. 😅
  17. Are you able to confirm or deny if this player is separate from this morning's earlier commit?
  18. Not to mention these type of events really appeal to upper middle class and the wealthy. Even if the event itself doesn't make program changing money, perhaps the relationship building leads to more premium tickets getting sold or corporate sponsors.
  19. I thought Covid had killed it, but based on the question, it sounded like it had been longer than that. They said it had been since the Dambrot days.
  20. I didn't realize they stopped doing the golf outing. Not doing a golf outing at the peak of golf popularity is certainly a choice.
  21. I would imagine this is exactly what we can expect soon.
  22. Golf outing seems like a great way of attracting new people or re-engaging some who had interest before, but lost interest. It's pretty easy to get a friend or associate who enjoys golf to be your 4th to fill our your scramble. Also, maybe a way of attracting some more local business to get more involved.
  23. Obviously doesn't mean Eric is staying, but it's good to hear and I hope it means he is considering returning. Were any other past or current players in attendance?
  24. It does already seem Dustin has tried to be more engaging with fans on social media compared to Groce. Another sign is starting the golf event back up.
