  1. Past hour
  2. Be ready for the likely runover of the Miami-Toledo game into the start of the Zips game. Maybe the alternate feed in the CBS Sports app will even be the Zips game. 🤔
  3. Today
  4. They effectively had NIL even before NIL. A local sugar daddy endowed their basketball program for big bucks.
  5. It appears he started 7 games at Center this season. Not sure if he missed the others with injury or lost his spot. I would think he lost his spot and that's why he's transferring.
  6. Good to see these guys still living their dream. I wasn't aware that either was playing professionally, so thanks for the news @Zip_ME87!

  8. All true, but it's better than nothing and what would happen if the Federal government legislates it.
  9. When pay to play was being bandied about years ago one of the things schools and the NCAA were wary of was unionization of the athletes....ALL athletes. I am ALL in favor of unions! But think about all of the issues that come with collective bargaining and unionization. If any of you were/are in a union you realize there are issues above and beyond pay. We will see.
  10. They are one of the few MAC teams that I haven't seen play this year either. I'm not saying they aren't good players. Just that I don't think BG had to outbid other P5 or even high majors for them. They probably had some offers from mid-majors, but BG was likely the best they received. A lot of players in the portal either get overvalued or undervalued.
  11. I would have thought it would be the other way around.
  12. Bruno to UCF, Delvin Morris to Kansas State
  13. They weren't lighting it up but they were contributing. When I think of BG getting a P5 player, I generally assume they're getting someone who was getting very few (if any) minutes. I haven't seen BG play yet this year other than a few minutes against Miami so I guess I'll see tonight what kind of players they are.
  14. The problem with non-competes is each school would have their own. A collective bargaining agreement would make everything universal. I think at this point the universities would welcome a collective bargaining agreement because it will allow them to focus on other things.
  15. All the MAC schools I believe opted into revenue sharing so they all have some amount of NIL. Some, like Akron and UMass, alot more than others. Neither of those players were exactly lighting it up at their P5 schools so it's not like they would have needed 100s of thousands of dollars to sign them.
  16. Time will certainly tell as I'm sure in the coming years the case will make it to court. I will say that many employer contracts for R&D or sales positions includes non-compete clauses and those have held up in court over time. I do think it's possible the same could hold up with college athletics, but I am no lawyer or a legal expert. I'll leave that to the legal experts.
  17. Thanks for the article. I think that in order to have enforceable contracts with so many people, a collective bargaining agreement is necessary.
  18. Demond Williams just days after signing a contract with Washington announced that he was going to enter the portal. Washington and the Big 10 stood their ground and were going to challenge him in court. He announced that he will return to Washington instead of leaving. I feel having enforceable contracts is a step in the right direction for college athletics. I know some here despise anything P4 related, but good on Washington and the Big 10 standing their ground. That should have trickle down effects to the G5 and other mid-majors in other sports. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/47554312/demond-williams-jr-transfer-stay-washington
  19. Re: vs. Akron (1/9) Post by Falconfreak90 » Wed Jan 07, 2026 1:23 pm Akron has tormented us since about 2005. I think we are 5-37 in our last 42? For the love of Andy Anderson, just beat them. As always, they will be an excellent team.
  20. Looking at BG's roster, they have two guys (Ruffin and Thomas) who played meaningful minutes including many starts at P5 schools (Colorado and Florida State) last year. Adding them to complement Campbell seems to have been crucial for BG so far, but I'm left wondering how did they get them? BG has had no success as of late and I haven't heard about them committing many NIL resources to basketball.
  21. Yeah, I saw that Miami line and almost decided to re-download the DraftKings app 😆 I think Miami wins that game fairly easily. But I also said UMass would beat EMU easily a while back, so I clearly don't know anything.
  22. Now -4.5. I would agree someone is going to have to step up bigly tonight. It's never too early to start preparing for 3DaysInMarch. You could even say the outcome of this game is less important than the development process for 3DIM. Miami is favored by 1.5 at Toledo.
