Not that I'm entertaining the thought of firing TB by any means but waiting until 3/1 to do it and save $100K would end up costing us a lot more in the long run than doing it asap. If you're into the fire TB thing4 points

As the founder of Jabari Arthurs corner this is amazing that 10 years later he still remembers us and gave us a shout out. I wish we could have been there for this and brought back the corner one more time. Jabari is such a great dude.2 points

For starters....lots of critics here for years about our big expensive football stadium. Kent still sucks because their stadium is so rinky dink...and they still can't fill it either. Kent still sucks because their marching band is more like a marching "combo". Kent still sucks because they were stupid enough not to try to get long-time Kent Roosevelt coach and hero John Nemec on their staff....and we did! Kent still sucks because their field house is a piece of dung, they have no track and field facilities (outdoors), no soccer stadium...okay, off topic, sorry. But they still suck because we have The Wheel!!!2 points

Last night I saw the Zip soccer team do something I haven't seen in a long time, they made an adjustment early in the game well before halftime. We came out playing our possession game with little penetration an no scoring opportunities. At about the 15 minute mark we changed to through passing and occasionally going over the top as direct teams do. Our wings and forward, especially Zajac and Kasay, started making diagonal runs and the opportunities started coming. I thought Zajac was really on his game. His D needs some work, but he can help a lot. The change produced one on one's with the GK for both Zajac and Kasay. We should have had a score out of one of those two chances. That's good coaching and I applaud Jared and the staff for having the team ready to do that. Our D looked good and stood up to Creighton's repeated long passes hoping to get over the top of our back line. Our boys were stellar. In fact the whole team, except for our right mid's, clicked. We are weak at RMF. Pacheco was playing below his standard and his sub, Yung (?), was lost. Tor was good in goal and if Ben is benched we will not lose a step here. I thought Mohammed was excellent and he helped to steady our improved backline. The only weakness that seem to stick out to me is that we have no speed up top, like a Darren Mattocks. This was a good game in which to put it together. We can build on this. Jared even smiled after the game. That's good news.1 point

Can't still sucks because THEY ARE... KENT STATE, and are proud of that perpetual failure.1 point

Sticking true to their Transfer U nickname. Pretty good landing spot for Parrish. It's unfortunate it didn't work out here, but I think it's ultimately for the best.1 point

Player clearly was shooting in frustration while game ending whistle was still blowing. No RC deserved. No way! Worst referee I can remember. And I do not generally remember refs (boring).1 point

If it looks like Nebraska has a chance to screw us out of our appearance fee, I'd guess that the income from a game in Chapel Hill would offset it?1 point

I was looking for a game on ESPN+ and run across this game, very nice broadcast. If you're a fan, and on the edge of getting a subscription, I would say do it. Go Zips!1 point

ABJ (GT): Zips preparing to dig themselves out of hole in conference play The proof of that lack of production is in the numbers for UA. They rank 124th nationally in overall offense and 110th in scoring offense with 23.2 points per game... Until they can find the groove for their anemic running game — which ranks 117th in the country averaging 111.4 yards a game... Have to hand it to the team for this: The good thing for the Zips right now is that no one is pointing fingers. If anything, the[y] continue to show a certain resolve.1 point

Congratulations to son and Dad!!! Morgan has really been working his tail off. Happy to see his success!1 point

Coach “we are running out of conference games to lose” Coach speaking about the running game totals “we don’t have any long runs, that’s what we need, our longest run is twelve yards" Coach speaking on replays “I thought there was a trapped ball and a step out of bounds” Alvin Davis is ready to go. No mention of Bell..who doesn’t appear on the pseudo-injury list. Coach “we hope to get Quad back” On Jeremiah Knight returning punts last week…”he just kept progressing, and studies film every spare minute. He was so intent on going to Columbus, nobody recruited him in the MAC. He is a special player"1 point

The occasional YC or RC also comes from poor refereeing as is the case with the single YC attributed to Colin Biros this season, and I believe the straight red shown to Creighton's #8 Kuba Polat at the end of last night's match. I will also note that in the professional ranks, 1 YC can be removed from the accumulated total after a certain consecutive number of games (cannot recall the number, I think 5) without receiving a YC. The NCAA has no such "good behavior" rule.1 point

12.6 Accumulated Cautions — Postseason 12.6.1 Caution accumulation will carry over into postseason play, which includes conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament. 12.6.2 Players or coaches participating in postseason play will receive a one game suspension when a total of eight cautions have been accumulated. Further, each two additional cautions shall result in additional one-game suspensions. 12.6.3 If the total is reached in the final postseason game of the season, the player(s), coach(es) and/or bench personnel shall not participate in the first scheduled game of the next season.1 point

5 YC = 1 match 3 YC = 1 match 2 YC thereafter = 1 match By the time one earns 10 YCs in a season, perhaps a different pastime should be considered.1 point

Marcel Zajac is rounding back in form. He had a fine outing. Carlo Ritaccio is growing up right before our eyes. He played like a MAN tonight. Probably his best match as a Zip.1 point

I would be shocked if Mounds was kept if Bowden was let go. I feel like the new staff is going to want their guys. I like just about everything except our offense in regards to our program right now. That's why as of today if I had to pick a change, it would be only MIlwee. If TB refuses to make a game, well....1 point

Gaucho Dan Rpi has Akron going from 51 to 35 in rpi after the game....really great bump for the zips big time WIN !!! Mods - any chance of automatically morphing any reference to the word 'result' in the soccer forum to 'win' ? Insert the word 'the' in front of 'hospital' if it's not there while you're at it. European English blows.1 point

If we're going to be 5-6, out of the MACE race, and needing a 12th game to have a chance at a crud bowl, another type of decision may be necessary...1 point

The school down in Jackson used to be called "Kent State Stark County". Or Kent State Stark CC. Not that long ago. I remember the Rowdies pulled a stunt where they called KSU and requested tix to Kent-Akron men's bb game at Kent, pretending to be students from Stark CC. Think they gave them prime seats, and after they arrived they opened their coats to reveal their Rowdies shirts.1 point

My only response would be that if the Offense had stayed on the field, put some drives together and put some points on the board, the Defense would not have been hung out to dry on a hot, humid day. Miami's D didn't have to operate under those circumstances. Bottom line:coaches didn't have this team prepared.1 point

One of my favorite Zips sweatshirt is navy (pretty faded now) with a chenille script Akron in gold....bought it at Rubber Bowl final season....still get raves about it, even from some of current Zip athletes when they’ve seen it....I too like the Scripts. Plus it reminds me of when the marching band used to perform “Script Zips” with a tuba player dotting the “i “ ....take that Suckeyes!1 point
