  1. In warmups, Riak was hitting more long range shots than Cheese. Banks and Cheese are similar size, but Banks is more of a pure 2 guard with a decent shot while Cheese can play the point in a pinch and is more aggressive off of the dribble as a penetrator, but doesn't have the outside shot of Banks. I've seen them both for about 25 minutes, so I am pretty confident in my assessments! LOL.

  2. Christian is a very smart kid. He is already a senior academically majoring in business. Next year he will be working on his MBA. This also translates to his performance on the floor. A coachs dream.

  3. I picked 15 to 20 first downs for EMU, based on their play calling so far this year, and also on our habit of giving up long drives, especially as the D wears out as the second half progresses. Don't know who will QB, but assuming it's KN, I think he'll be right about the 200 yard mark. Since EMU tends to get their first downs via the pass, and uses short passes a lot, I'm going with Alvin for most tackles, plus he's been the most consistently high in tackles. I think there are 3 TDs a piece in this game. And my fearless forecast is...EMU misses a field goal at the end of the game to allow the Zips to leave Ypsi with a W.

  4. In the post game show, "Champion of the Local Akron Kid" Joe Dunn expressed his excitement that Walter was the back up point guard. Groce subsequently stated Cheese was the back up and Walter would probably be 3rd on the PG depth chart.

  6. Fearless Forecast: even though the Zips are 13 point underdogs, they will win by a td or more.

  8. FWIW, listed as questionable here. No Van listed is good. I saw him working out his leg on the bench at the end of the NIU game. Hopefully just a cramp.

  9. I'm planning on being there. Hope LePear's good to go. I don't want to see him get left behind so early in the season. Cool graphic

  10. What is it that you are looking for? I've seen the kid play 29 minutes.

  11. Jackson makes Antino look like Bob Lanier he's so small. Looks like all of the same lame timeout contests are back with the exception of the nearly impossible Pizza Fire 3 point thing. I want to sneak into the back and puncture those hippity hop balls. I think they plan to stick with that Dizzy Sping game until someone falls and spills their brains on the JAR court.

  12. A couple additional notes... - Scott Walter looked like he belonged, even as a walk-on. He's pretty heady, and didn't seem to try and do too much. I don't know how much he'll play come the regular season against DI opponents (I don't think it'll be much), but I won't be freaking out if he's in the game. - Khadim Gueye is huge. It'll be fun to see him and Riak on the floor next year. - Toles was out, but I heard pregame that he has been practicing very well. I wonder if he cracks the starting lineup when he comes back. - This team is WAY deeper than last year. Should be fun.
