BEAUTIFUL goal #2!!!!! Tourney time baby!

Zips broke the press with only 5 turnovers all game. When YSU was making 3s from everywhere, this team didn't panic. They settled for 2s instead of trying to matched them 3 for 3. Zips would catch up and YSU would drain another 3. Again, Zips didn't run down the court and chuck up a "me too" 3. Chicago State on Friday lost by 41 to Central Michigan. first test will be Clemson in Grand Cayman.

I went to the game today and was very impressed how we were able to penetrate to the basket and use our athleticism and strength to muscle our way to some good shots around the baskets. We had quickness, hustled to the ball and shot the ball well after the first 5 minutes of the game. I thought Youngstown played a great first half and thought it would be a close game but they threw the ball away and started forcing some bad shots. We were too quick for them. Every Zip has the ability to penetrate to the basket. Also, we kept our man in front of us. THey had some pick and rolls and some offensive put backs but they mainly shot from the perimeter. Also, Jackson played an amazing game for his second division one game. He was a step quicker than everyone else on the floor and can beat anyone off the dribble. He is not afraid to penetrate and finishes well at the basket. He fights through the screens and his defense is just fine. I think this guy will be great and looking forward to seeing how he plays against better competition. Utome and Ivey had great games. Poke still looks rusty and I think it will take a little time for him to regain his form.

There is just no way Milwee can be back here next season. Hell, he shouldn't even finish the season, but TB is loyal to a fault. It was so painful watching EMU blitz the opposite side of where the running back was lined up every play because this offense literally only has one running play. There was no chance before these plays were even ran. Making it a point to email my displeasure to L. Williams this week. My first want is Milwee gone. That game perfectly summed up KD's tenure. A team with "huge" expectations, playing to the level of it's competition and losing a game they should have won easily.

Ugh. 1st game of the year. I had Top 25 aspirations that year. Made the trip to Youngstown. Promptly lost my lunch. it was after that game that I was steadfastly indifferent about KD moving on.

The Zips weren't revolutionary today (see what I did there), but they were flashing some serious potential in the second half. I think they are just scratching the surface.

I was listening to the Cleveland Browns radio show on 92.3 earlier in the week and the player interview was T.J. Carrie. Zip alum Ken Carmen asked Ohio U alum Carrie what stadium he liked the most in his travels in college and he lauded Akron as having some of the nicest facilities of any school he had visited while playing for OU. Rather than enjoy the moment, it just made me mad. UA has spent tons to get these model football facilities. The stadium is fantastic, the fieldhouse great, the dorms outstanding and the workout facilities top notch. We have the 15th highest paid coach in the State of Ohio. Northeast Ohio is a hotbed of talent located in a state that produces the 5th largest pool of college football talent in the country. Despite all of these elements for success, we hope every year that our dear Zips will get to .500 to be bowl eligible while we watch them dwell in the mediocrity in the middle or bottom of the MAC. We get the occasional tease with something like the Northwestern win, but in the end we watch the endless train of directional schools eat our proverbial lunch. The school has to make a choice. If you’re going to commit to playing FBS football, commit to doing it well, not settling for mediocrity. If not, go play in some obscure conference and stop this damn charade.

I'm vaguely remembering our "best team ever" laying a big egg against YSU in this event. None of that today!

Whatever happens in the off season, Milwee has to go. I can live with about anything, but if he's back I'm out. I just cannot take watching this any more. I will donate the cost of my season tix to charity.

Thank GOD we're only a couple of hours away from a reset with Akron basketball with soccer following tomorrow. Sad that Milwee and Co couldn't come up with something closer to pitch-and-catch for YAC to help Ramart stay out of trouble and stand a better chance at success. Standing firm that Milwee blows and needs to go. May be taking the whole staff with him. What say you Mr. Williams?
