  1. I've attached my best guess at an updated scholarship chart. Couple notes: I included Boogie Knight, Muldowney, and Bischoff as scholarship players even though there isn't a record of them having one. Just my assumption based on getting actual playing time last year. I also removed Denzel Butler, Mark Ellis, Chuck Turfe, and Vince Lockett...players who you would believe are on scholly and have eligibility left based on the 2018 roster, but do not appear on the 2019 spring roster. Based on all of that, it looks like there are 23 schollies available for 2019. As always, if anyone knows of a player's situation better than I do in regards to them being on scholly or with the program, please let me know and I'll update. Trying to make this as accurate as possible. Zips Football Scholarship Chart.xlsx

  7. While we are counting players and trying to figure out who is going to be on next years roster, Groce is out there trying to make it better yet. I didn't remember this guy by name, but while researching it turns out that his recruitment out of high school came down to Illinois vs Oregon and Oregon won. So he has been given the full Coach Groce recruitment effort once before. That could make all the difference. And yes, I see that Illinois is in on this recruitment again as well. Here's the story. The comments are worth a read too. https://247sports.com/college/oregon/Article/Oregon-basketball-Abu-Kigab-transfer-127219184/ The old story with some high school credentials: https://www.thechampaignroom.com/2016/10/12/13264636/abu-kigab-illinois-fighting-illini-basketball-recruiting-news-oregon-ducks High School highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEpML_xs4Nw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ys9PdmlGAXo

  9. We have our first commit (and signee?) of the Arth era. JUCO OLB/DE. HS recruiting profile, where he had a pretty nice offer list: https://247sports.com/Player/Michael-Scott-83307/high-school-144272/ https://www.hudl.com/video/3/2702051/5b8c74c30dcafd0bd4acd999

  10. What's surprising about their 19% day from behind the arc is I thought they had a lot of quality looks. Not many of them looked forced. We did enough to scrape out a win. Hopefully we find our shooting by Tuesday, we'll need it against CMU.

  15. But...they could still be the first! I think if they finish MAC play above .500, Buffalo is automatic. All Groce's team has to do is win at the right time and place and they can that first team!

  16. Ball state bench had 0 points on 0-4 shooting. Looks like they will go as far as the starting 5 takes them. Maybe hope for a game where the refs are calling it right to get some guys in foul trouble.

  18. Some more "gushing" over Akron in this article... Speaking to FourFourTwo in 2017 about his growth as a coach, Porter said: “I've had to learn an even deeper level of adjustment and tactical awareness, and that's made me a much more well-rounded coach. I still have my beliefs, I still have my philosophies, but I think when I came here, I had a couple philosophies. Now I have 100 philosophies.” It’s a fine answer from a coach. I just hope he returns to his foundational philosophy upon returning to his managerial roots. I’m a romantic about Porter’s Akron teams, as I imagine anyone who watched them would be. I didn’t love the way he coached the Timbers teams — a team with Diego Valeri, Darlington Nagbe and Diego Chara shouldn’t finish outside of the top 10 in passes attempted (or miss the playoffs twice in five years). Porter and Timbers maestro Diego Valeri in 2013 | USA Today Sports Images I’ll never blame a coach for playing to win, but Porter offered something at Akron that few coaches have ever provided in America. I get that it was a college team, but if only you had seen them... One can’t help but hope Ohio brings the best out of Porter. And Columbus feels like the perfect place right now to bring it out of hibernation. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I told some people after he was hired by the Crew that this wasn't exactly a good thing for Ohio State Men's Soccer, as Porter will more than likely encourage the top Crew Academy players to go to Akron to be groomed for his style of play. I didn't even think about the publicity Akron will get... IN Columbus.

  23. Will respectfully disagree. I have been to too many Hoban games to see that he is anything but exceptional in his play calling. But I will admit that if you use Milwee as a baseline for performance Tyrell is way off the charts. Thank God there is a new play caller on the way whoever he is. Our suffering is about to end. Anything is better than what we have experienced.

  24. Hawkins is 150-106 (.586) against the MAC and has made 2 NCAAT appearances. He's done well enough that it would be hard for WMU to justify firing him, but hasn't done well enough to be poached. He's pretty much the Frank Solich of MAC basketball.
