  3. I said I'd revisit it next at the end of the season, however, I stumbled upon the below on reddit so figured I'd share. The first set of rankings was the one I was previously calculating in my previous post. The MAC average position on teams has actually improved considerably compared to what it previously was and has actually past the WCC and has narrowed the gap with the AAC and P12. The 2nd set of rankings is the kenpom adjem added together for all teams then divided by the number of teams in the conference. This metric places WCC ahead of the MAC because Gonzaga's adjem is 31.39. Buffalo's & Toledo's combined (MAC's 2 highest teams) is 31.63.The other 2 rank offense and defense stats of the conference. The MAC ranks 8th in offense and 10th in defense. Once again Gonzaga 126.6 (ranked #1 in country) boosts the WCC average.

  5. They are smart - which is why they promoted Oats from within after Hurley left. However, if another internal promotion gives us 2 Mr. Pinky's in the league, I'm all for it. Path of least resistance for Akron!

  6. Historically its been in the 10-15 range. The MAC returned something like 12 out of its 15 All-MAC players so this year was expected to be a very good year for the MAC. Now MAC rosters are loaded with graduating seniors so next year we should see some drop off. Also, I'd be very shocked to see Oats returning to Buffalo so who knows what kind of fall out that will create for them. If they were smart, they should take a page out of PCCC playbook and promote from within to prevent a mass exodus of transfers and keep the momentum of the program.

  7. 13 is the scholarship limit, so noone needs to move on. Although if we get another commit we would be over again.

  8. We have already filled both Kostelac and Gueye's scholarships. We have 3 newcomers and only Ivey is a senior.

  12. Through a Players' Eyes by Zach Guiser Click above link for full article...."During my senior year, I had to end my playing career only three games into the season. For the remainder of the season, I would walk out on the field in my jersey for the coin toss, then throw on a headset in the booth or on the sidelines and act as an extra coach. It was during this time period that I realized how much perspective matters. I discovered how seeing things as an active member on the field is entirely different from the view you get as an engaged viewer on the outside. From the sidelines, you cannot fully grasp the physical, mental, and emotional toll that the game/practice takes on the players. The most alarming fact was how quickly I forgot what it felt like. In only a few short weeks, I had almost completely lost the ability to empathize with what my teammates were going through."

  13. Bob and the Beacon can't seem to figure out just what he is. Is he a columnist? A humorist? An investigative reporter? In the end, whatever he's trying to be is being done poorly (yet arrogantly). Hopefully, Gatehouse will get their fill quickly.

  14. On the topic of venting, I’d like to see the corner boards mirror each other diagonally rather than having them the same at each end zone. For those of us that sit in the end zone, we can see team stats or individual stats, but never both at the same time.

  16. Speaking of the UNLV - Nevada game, it reminded me of the below that I stumbled upon. I thought about sharing it in another thread where we were discussing our poor promotions, but didn't. The marketing team at UNLV is on point and this deal is phenomenal. This is what good marketing looks like. If anyone at the UA athletic department is looking, take note.

  17. Three years ago, Jonathan Lewis was criticized by many (me) for lack of a reliable left foot. Well, youngsters can improve. That left footed cross on the ground was world class! Well done, JLew!

  18. I don't think it's that terrible for them. The team that's getting screwed is WMU as now they have 4 games in 8 days. Kent plays Akron Friday then plays WMU that following Thursdays. WMU during Kent's 5 off days plays both at Ball State and at home against NIU. It will be the most winnable road game Kent plays all year.
