  1. I got a late call into the Dan Patrick show today during the best and worst of the week(end). I mentioned Jackson having back to back 35 pt games being the best. The worst was the loss to BG. Dan Patrick followed it up with the appreciation of the update on MAC basketball!!

  2. MAC website finally appears as though they have all of LCJ's stats for all games included in the overall statistics, and have added him back into the conference only statistics but still only have him playing 12 games in conference. If you only include 75% of LCJ's games then the race for player of the year is a lot tighter. ?

  3. We really just need to take care of our own business and focus on going 1-0 against Ohio tomorrow. We'd already have the #1 seed clinched had we won @BGSU, but we didn't. We lost our right to control our own destiny.

  4. With both the men and Women indoor track teams finishing higher than Kent, the Zips have retaken the lead in the Wagon Wheel Challenge, however with two sports that are new (or new again) this year in sports that Kent tends to be very good at in women's lacrosse and baseball, we should demand Kent add men's soccer and women's swimming and diving to even the odds again. ? It's currently 4.5 - 4 with the following sports to go: March 6 Men's Basketball March 25 Women’s Lacrosse March 28 Softball April 1 Baseball April 24-26 Women's Golf MAC Championship April 28 Baseball May 1-3 Men's Golf MAC Championship May 14-16 Men's Outdoor Track and Field MAC Championship May 14-16 Women's Outdoor Track and Field MAC Championship With Kent likely taking golf, baseball and women's lacrosse, and the Zips taking T&F, Zips need to win the next basketball game, and softball just for a tie. If its a tie it stays with the current school which is Akron.

  5. Akron plays a difficult system, and it takes the right mix of personnel to make it work. It took Embick a couple years to get the right mixture after Caleb's departure, then we went to 3 out of the next 4 College Cups (including a National Title Game loss). We're gonna have some down years - every program in every sport does - but I fully expect Embick to have things turned around this year. Don't jump ship!

  6. By the way, welcome to ZipsNation @JZIP I'm always happy to see more Zips fans join in. As MP12 said, please don't jump ship yet. I'm looking for a return to glory this Fall.

  7. Agreed - let’s talk one day at a time. Last season was disappointing....I get it but don’t jump off the ship yet. Someone can correct me if I am wrong but aren’t we (and Stanford) the only teams that have been to the final four 3 of the last 5 years? Let’s support our guys - this is going to be a good season hopefully JZIP you won’t miss out.

  8. The article I read and posted indicated that UA imposed the one game suspension and the MAC stated they felt no need to address the matter as UA had adequately handled it. Thanks. Pretty rare that a guy bails under those circumstances, inter-conference no less.

  9. He is the best 5'8" player in the entire Country. There should be a separate stat sheet for players under 5'9" - it would only have a few lines. Seriously, he "could" be our ticket to an at large if we lose out by a hair. The Selection Committee can decide to put a team in because they want to show off a player. Of course, later on I will wake up and realize I must have said that in my sleep.

  10. I do actually feel bad that he's not getting the local/regional attention he deserves. The kid is must-see TV, and hell all these fans of basketball in Northeast Ohio can make a short drive to see him in person for just a few bucks, yet there will be plenty of empty seats on Tuesday, hopefully none on Friday. For the lack of attention/press the TEAM gets, the lack of attention Cristian gets himself is sad. I remember when Porrini from Kent had that big year in 2011, he wasn't MVP material, but he made a lot of big plays and was fun to watch. The local media in Portage county were all over it and it created hype. That kind of thing is nonexistent here.

  11. Things I like about Ohio U. Jeff Boals (wish he would have stayed at Stony Brook so I could continue rooting for him wholeheartedly) Beautiful campus including a building that was named after my great uncle who was president there in the 40s. Fantastic rivarly we have developed with them over the years. Passionate fan base which helps the MAC and our rivalry I respect they feel the O-H-I-O was stolen from them by Ohio State and the Bobcat "voiced" the disrespect by tackling Brutus during a football game Things I don't like about Ohio U. They are still Ohio U ?

  13. Either play the 12pm game or 6:30pm game week from Thursday. 2018 road game, 2019 home game, 2020 #1 or #2 seed. Progress.

  16. Love our rivalries with Buffalo, Kent, and Ohio. It's pretty awesome having 3 sincere, bitter rivals.

  17. It he stays it probably means he had a Rob Senderhoff type tenure. Dambrot turned down some offers throughout the years so if Groce is anywhere in the realm of what Dambrot accomplished, I see him taking the first non-dead end step up offer he gets. Unlike Dambrot he has no connection to Akron so he has nothing keeping him here except not having a better current option.

  18. They design and wear nice dresses. Pinky looks great in a strapless gown.
