A tight well played game by both teams with a close win is always fun, but I am really hoping the Zips put Ravenna out of their misery early and then step on their necks.

The JAR was rocking from the get-go on Tuesday night. The best mid-week energy I've felt in that place in a long, long time. Tonight is going to be an absolute blast. Can't wait for tip-off!

In fairness to them their board is pretty dead. Their last game thread against BG is only on page 2. For comparison our last game thread (OU) is on page 9. All of those boards hidden on the back pages of CSNbbs are relatively dead. We along with the Bobkittens probably have the most active board. It's in part do to how captain and the mods have provided us with a very friendly user interface and that we have a good number of active content contributors.

Good for Keith, actually what he is doing at Duquesne is pretty darn impressive, even more so after reading that article.

So, could their record be strong enough to get an at large?

I coughed up some extra cash for tonight to get reserved seats for exactly this reason. Godspeed.

2 years of disappointing basketball has really made ZN pretty soft. We used to have a NCAA Tourney Win valuation on the left now. Now we're giving it up for a local reporter. Sheesh. Still saving that right nut for a National Title though. #KnowYourWorth

When UA hired Groce, Bob Dyer wrote a nasty hit piece on him and the university. If the next week goes well, I look forward to reminding him.

And let me add, because I’m a softy, that I don’t really want to pick on GT. I’ve done that too much. He’s an EXCELLENT pop culture writer and movie/tv critic. One can simply tell sports aren’t where his heart is. I’m just perpetually frustrated with the ABJ. We’ve got a true community treasure that other cities would kill for - a D-1 athletic program - and the Canton Rep has superior sports writers covering high schools and community colleges. It’s batshit crazy.

This team has proven they can win without Cheese and without LCJ (for the most part). They need to prove they can run a team out of the gym again.

Concerning attendance and apathy, and the Akron Beacon Journal, look at the work of Canton Rep sports reporter Mike Popovich. He covers Stark County high school sports and Mount Union college. The fact the ABJ has never had anyone cover UA with half as much passion as Mike covers smaller programs is insufferable. Mike constantly tweets out "hype" for the teams he covers. Btw, Mike is a graduate of UA and was at the Ohio game. I'd give my left nut if the ABJ would hire him to cover the Zips.

ESports is one of the main reasons X chose Akron, and could be a catalyst for future recruiting, University growth, etc. It's a BIG deal with this younger group. Long way to go success wise to be discussing anything regarding keeping Groce long-term. Let's beat PCCC on Friday.
