  1. Possibly some good news and confirmation? From LCJ's Instagram (accompanied by a pic of him cutting down the nets)... little_loren3 After hearing the news yesterday I was devastated. My brothers and I worked so hard to get to where we are at and our goals still being able to be accomplished. I’m hurting for my brothers @chanlo_loc @ty4cheese @xwilliams20 @dengriak @quelleee_ you guys are true definitions of warriors and I’m grateful to have played alongside you guys. The Akron fans that have watched us grow throughout the season and supported us thank you. We will be back to carry on the legacy that those 5 seniors have paved for us and accomplish the goals we set out that were cut short. I love y’all boys you guys have done more for me then you even know. Forever my Family. #1Akron #TTP

  2. On a personal note, I stayed after the victory over Northern Illinois in true Homer fashion and got a chance to speak briefly with Groce (first time ever), Ford and the radio guys. I even got a fist bump from LCJ. During Groce's first year at Illinois he passed out bracelets to his team and staff to wear with "T-N-T" printed on them for Toughness & Togetherness. That is Groce's mantra. And in the time I have been watching his teams, no one team has represented that mantra moreso than this year's Zips squad. That special chemistry to me is the highlight of the season. And finally, watching the Zips on national TV is always extra fun. I was looking forward to much more of that.

  4. Folks I appreciate the comments and feedback you’ve provided thus far ...from an outsider ( who is also very disappointed today ) I wanted to offer my condolences on the lost post season ...I thought you guys had a great team and a shot to get in and make noise ...I was looking forward to watching. Sorry for your seniors. if any of you , while it’s not a replacement and it’s certainly not a near equal consolation, have a basketball itch the IHSAA high school tournament is just about the only basketball still being played ( closed venues limited to 75 fans per team ). You can watch Luke brown and Blackford in regional action (they won sectional championship ) this Saturday at 12 and then if they win in the championship game at 8 pm ....the games will be broadcast and streamed on the Ihsaa network premium broadcast service www.Ihsaatv.org The replay of the game costs money but if you watch live it’s free. Good opportunity to see him play and still see some basketball ! sorry again to you fans

  5. Considering China started the cover up in December, there's a good chance it has been here since then.

  7. Just ran into E-man at the Cleveland airport. Guess he’s back in town to visit. He said his heart is doing great. He’s disappointed basketball season ended so early. Still a great young man. Small world!

  8. Suckeyes coach Chris Holtmann was on 92.3 The Fan this afternoon with Bull & Fox. The hope is potentially revisiting re-opening the NCAA Tournament later this year. Matt Norlander is saying there are talks of still revealing a 68-team bracket. He also mentioned a 16-team tournament starting next Thursday. This would be incredibly stupid and contradictory in my opinion.

  9. My suggestion: Give every school the earned an auto bid (by winning their tournament or as in the case of Akron and other others winning the regular season and not playing a tournament) an auto at large next year. Won't be many of the same players, but at least the school gets to Dance. And expanding the format to accommodate those teams would generate more revenue.

  12. Good for Council. He was not going to get the opportunity to take his game to the next level as a Zip. Best of luck.

  13. According to Lunardi, we would have been 8 pt. underdogs to Maryland.

  14. While this week spiraled into chaos, and now no other sports will be played (intercollegiate) by the Zips, quietly the Zips swim team were the last to still be competing, Thursday evening. Competing in the CSCAA National Invitational Championship (swimming's equivalent to the NIT in basketball), the event was still a go and got the prelims in Thursday morning (without spectators) before DeWine's 100+ ban was announced, and the organizers were forced to shut it down after finals. In the finals, Sarah Watson won Championships in the 50 yard butterfly and the 200 Individual Medley, then Sofia Hennell won the final individual event of the night, the 50 yard freestyle. Then the Zips won the final NCAA sporting event of the 2019-20 year by winning the 400 yard Individual Medley Relay by shattering the meet record by over 4 seconds and the pool record by over 3 seconds. And the team was deemed to be the Champions, although with the cancellation of the remainder of the Meet, it'll be a little tempered.

  15. Ohio cancelled its state playoffs. Good luck to Luke Brown and Blackford!

  16. They cut them down when they beat Ohio the game before.

  17. Kind of surprised they didn't postpone it for up to a month before canceling. Then maybe still play in empty venues. Lots of businesses will feel the economic pain.

  19. Person #4 was Stark County. Person #5 is Trumbell county; which were both community spread...which likely means it's been here longer than we think it has been; which is one of the reasons the WHO declared it a Pandemic. The R-squared value for the growth was 1.15 the other day; which if continued would be 1,000,000 cases in the next two months. If it can be lowered to 1.05 it'll be 400,000. The two ways to easily bring the R-squared down is limiting chance of exposure (large events with lots of people) and limiting chance of infection (washing hands).

  20. All great memories. I'll add another which hasn't yet been mentioned. Tribble's baseline poster-dunk -v- Kent. I haven't enjoyed a team this much since the classic Dru-Rome-Wood squads. This team was a joy.

  22. "How Deadly is Coronavirus? What We Know and What We Don't" | New York Times "We spoke to a number of experts in epidemiology, and they all agreed that 1% [death rate] was probably more realistic (than the 3.4% being mentioned)." So that's good news - if The Time's sources are correct. But the situation is still fluid and is changing rapidly.

  24. Kid has NFL aspirations and obviously has the potential with the offers he's gotten. Going to a P5 school and playing against top competition is better for his future at this point. Would have loved to have him but I can't blame him.

  25. We didn't let him get away. He ran away. Did you forget we were 0-12? That explains everything. Why stay for a rebuilding program that will be thrilled to win 4-5 games when he can use his limited eligibility to play for a P5 program that is used to wining and putting 10's of thousands of butts in the stands. Seems simple to me. He might have loved the team but he also deserves to enjoy big time football if he can. Good luck Brandon.
