  1. Congrats to the OU Bobcats. I'll root like hell against them when they play the Zips, but for the MAC to be recognized and respected it needs high exposure and tournament wins to get the attention of the selection committee. Wins like this accomplish that, so Go Bobcats!

  2. I was rooting for Shaka to get throttled by 46, but I will take it!

  3. I may be wrong, but I think they essentially go there as free agents. There are agents for international basketball that essentially market these guys to find them spots. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up at an NBA prep thing like the Portsmouth Invitational and then goes from there. I also wouldn't be surprised if his long term plan is to coach, possibly even taking over for his father. If that's the case, he could start off in that direction rather than delay it by playing. He's young though with nothing but a long life ahead of him so who knows.

  5. In looking at next year's team I'd like to offer a lineup that may differ from a lot of your opinions. Post - Bandago ....... Freeman ....... Salle PF - Freeman ........ Ali Wing - Ali ....... Dawson ....... Wynn SG - Trimble ....... Mitchell ....... Johnson PG - Clarke ..... Mitchel/Johnson ...... Tribble I would start Aziz and play him into the position. He has the ability and by tournament time I think he could be that force in the paint we need. Freeman can back him up, but I feel Freeman has the Bball IQ to transition to PF where he can still rebound, block shots and score low while being a little further from the basket. Salle is a nice third option down low. Ali is my first choice at Wing. He has the skill and body, he just has to show up. If not I wouldn't hesitate to go to Dawson who may win the spot outright anyway. I love his development. At SG I will begin with Trimble, but if he doesn't start playing defense or show a willingness to move to get open more, rather than be served up the ball, I'd seriously consider a freshman. At PG Clarke is my hands down choice. One of the freshman could back him up. Unfortunately Tribble is in jeopardy of losing PT. He is a liability from 3 pt range and at the line. He cannot dribble penetrate when closely guarded. As pointed out before he also needs to finish at the rim better. Until he improves his shot and at the line I see him sitting more. Next year could, and should, be a good year for us. So bring it on.

  6. I was also there. The excitement was incredible and I hope to again experience it soon. I lost all respect for Shaka when he had his starters in with a 40 point lead and the game was near the end. I don't care how good of friend he is to KD, that's showing no class.

  7. You make a fair point. I took my 2 sons with me to the game and there were some highlights to the trip: Saw a really good game before the Akron game that was between Michigan and South Dakota State, saw the Henry Ford museum, and my kids loved the mall near our hotel. Unfortunately, the Akron game was not one of the good highlights of the trip. However, I do remember the excitement of the people on this board that Akron got a game close to home and we had a lot of Akron fans at the game. Glad to see that you also made the trip.

  8. I was there too. You can stop pressing when you're up 40 especially against a shorthanded team you have a history with. I wouldn't expect KD to say much else. Coach how you want, but don't expect it to generate any future good will.

  9. We were down some key players due to sickness on top of Abreu getting arrested and he ran it up big time. He was a dick.

  10. Not sure why there why there is all this hate against Shaka. I went to Michigan to watch that game and his team played extremely quick and just were much better than us. I thought Tree was the only player for Akron that looked good. I guess people thought that Shaka ran up the score but that was just their style of play. They played pressure and put the ball up quick. I believe they stopped the pressure the last 5 minutes of the game. I remember KD was not upset by their style of play after the game.

  11. If I'm reading correctly, Shaka is 0-6 in the NCAA tournament since the Zips game. Karma may be stronger than we thought. 😉

  15. A rare likable Ohio team, and honestly I still kind of hate them. But man, if that's Akron some day soon, I will absolutely be losing my s#!+.

  17. 2019-20 was stolen from us. Not surprised whatsoever by this from OU. Boals is a helluva coach, and Preston/VP are a phenomenal 1-2 combo. This is why so many of us spoke so highly of the Boals hire and OU, @NWAkron.

  19. And the zips get today's DH sweep! Lead off home run in bottom of the sixth was the difference in the second game. Another DH on tap tomorrow.

  21. I try and talk the MAC up, then Toledo and UB go out and let us down. Maybe Ohio can pull off an upset or two, though I feel conflicted in wanting it to happen.
