  1. They probably rested their starters in preparation for tonight. Trap game.

  2. Ok, I will try to lighten up, Francis. I just think that if you love OSU and were able to go to college, you should have gone to that school. I have worked with many people over the years who went to different schools, but when their alma mater played the Suckeyes, they would dress up in OSU gear. I had a very good friend who I graduated from the University of Akron with, asked if he could join me for a game. He met me in Lot 9 wearing Buckeye apparel. He got many negative comments and near threats over his outfit at the tailgate. I bought him an Akron Jersey to cover up his shirt. I just think your number 1 college love has to be your alma mater. It is for me and I am proud to be a graduate of the University of Akron. Speaking of triggers, there are many people on this forum who speak negatively toward Buffalo and Kent State. They are called many different names on this forum, which I think is worse than my Suckeye comments. Just look at the game threads, of which some are confusing. I hold no ill will toward these schools. I do not know any Akron graduates who root for Kent or Buffalo, unless maybe their spouse went there. I know several people who went to Kent, and I respect them. Thanks for allowing me to explain myself. However, after writing this post, I decided that I will not lighten up regarding the Suckeyes. Go Zips!!! Proud to be an University of Akron alumnus.

  4. Game day! My prediction: 2-1 Zips. Not to get ahead, but I've not posted since the bracket was announced. I'm sure Kentucky did not want to see us as a potential opponent so early in the tournament. We control our future. If playing to our potential, we are a Top 10 team and could win 3-4 games. Time to show some heart and character. Let's play Akron soccer!

  5. I pretty sure I saw her on the bench and in uniform rather than sweats. I guess that's progress. Still didn't get in though.

  6. Jim Grobe "resigned" (cough...snicker) from Wake Forest after telling the AD he wanted to switch to the triple option. The AD hired a creative coach in Dave Clawson and is now on the verge of making the ACC Championship. Keeping Arth for another season would be a better move than hiring Johnson and running the triple option. Keeping Arth for another season would not doom the program as long as failing with the triple option. Triple option is giving up on a football program.

  10. Agree. Be fun to do this each year! Eerily quiet right now.

  11. It's kind of like being a Browns fan whose only excitement each year revolves around the draft.

  12. Chris is rumored to be traded to Seattle. He's entering the final year of his contract and the A's are looking to rebuild. And they're cheap and he's set to make $8.8mil next year. J.T. is signed with the Pirates through 2024. No trade rumors on him, darn it, would like to see him on even a .500 club...

  13. To put things in perspective, they finished 5-11 last year, three games behind Notre Dame College (South Euclid, not South Bend) finishing 6th in the Mountain East North. I remember it as Wheeling Jesuit University, from when I worked in SE Ohio and watched some of their games. They seperated from the Jesuits a couple years ago.

  16. For an excellent example of inflated player heights go to that site and compare the picture to the heights listed. Someone on their staff has an excellent sense of humor.

  17. It's also an indication that there isn't enough staff to handle 2 events at the same time.....☺️

  18. I really hope the next coach sees the value in keeping a leader like Coach Rod in Ziptown. Otherwise, I wish him much fortune and will try to follow his journey. ❤

  19. Well stated. I really like him. I'm not sure he is a D1 FBS head football coach but he seems like a hell of a guy and a great influence on the kids.

  20. I really appreciate his pressers. Good stuff! Very insightful and zero coach-speak. GT: "Is Gibson going to be starting?" Coach: "Yes." Love his comment about the fact that Kent's D is likely going to struggle no matter who the DC is due to the way they play offense (D's gonna get tired). We witnessed that with Bowden in his first year. Liked his analogy of the Mexican boxing match. Lol. And when GT asked about the current situation... Coach: "I've had cancer twice. This is nothing." GT: "How are the players doing..." Coach: "They're young & many don't have the life experience to know how to handle this properly. That's not their fault. I'm working to show them how men handle their business." All paraphrases, of course. Great stuff, Coach Rodriguez!

  21. That's the kind of thing I mean when I say that the Zips players don't do the simple things I taught 6-year-old fly football players. I taught those children as safeties not to let anybody get behind them. I also taught them to stay at home on defense. Repeatedly, I see zips players break those very simple rules that I could get 6-year-olds to follow. That's the result of bad coaching.
