Kind of sad how our pressers are literally just Groce making his opening statements the having a brief conversation with GT. It’s not like we’re in Athens or something. No Plain Dealer/Cleveland.com, no students, no radio media, and nothing from Canton or anywhere else nearby.

I like it. It makes a clear statement as to who we are and what we stand for. Far better than script Akron.

So we still technically over-achieved, despite getting literally nothing and then basically nothing from two key players we expected to have this year - one who prior to the start of the season, we may have reasonably assumed would be our best player. Well done Groce and team. The future looks bright. With that said, it will be a tough road in Cle, but I at least really want to get over the Buffalo hump up there.

For kicks, I compared the pre-season poll to the final standings. While the order is a little different, the top 5 teams are correct.

They go on winning percentage against highest ranked teams. Both Akron and Ohio lost all games to Toledo but Akron lost twice to the Flushes and Ohio split with them. Would have loved to see Ohio first.

Watching the replay, Jackie Windon is so good. She's talking about reading the eyes and how the teams were telegraphing passes. She can't be replaced.

PCCC is going to blow thru Ohio and that side of the bracket. Go Redhawks

Tribble has improved a bunch this year. But I think his leadership at this point is outpacing his talent. So even though he might not be that go-to guy in the clutch at this point his voice, attitude and effort needs to be applauded.

That may have been literally the perfect game script for Akron. 2010 Akron soccer lost to CSU on their crap field. They went on to never lose again that season, claiming the National Title. They had played some uninspired soccer leading up to that game, and an opponent finally took advantage. That game was a wake up call to the team. For this squad, Trimble was excused from the team a few games ago. They go on this run of playing great teamism ball, knocking off the Bobkittens of BFE Ohio during that stretch. They head into Cleveland now with a winning streak AND having been tested with NOTHING going their way. Heck of a win. Always good to finish the regular season with a W. Awesome seeing Groce in the stands after the game. Now let's go beat Canada in Cleveland!

With the Buffalo loss, it looks like we are up to the 4 seed.

Cool seeing Groce in the crowd with the students. Lets hope we can get back to the JAR of the old days next season. He, the staff, and the team deserve more support.
