Stay in the MAC. Good TV availability (are there any games, aside from Point Park, that aren't on ESPN+?). Good rivalries. Easy road trips for conference games. Decent bowl tie-in's. Cheap travel costs. If your a good coach like Groce, with your program established, your chance dancing in March is at worst, 50/50. Probably better. The AAC will be completely different in 5 years...and completely different 5 years after that. The Zips sending their baseball team to Wichita? Never in a million years. And on and on and on... I wish the MAC would have accepted MTSU and WKU. It would have upgraded the conference, with minor impact to the travel budget. Those two schools are different than UMass...Temple...UCF...Marshall...all of whom were looking to leave the MAC the day after they arrived. MTSU and WKU would have been a nice, like-minded fit. The MAC has survived for 75 years. As it stands today it is perfect for the Zips. Bring on summer football camp!

what a great post!! As a former D1 baseball player I agree with what you said. However, the general public likes these changes and that means more income for MLB. I have said multiple times that most people could not play above TBall and that is the knowledge level of their sports. These are the people driving these changes. These are the people with Money, and Money drives all decisions!!!!!

Looking at the competition from the offer lists, I would think that Coach JoeMo could get several commitments from the posted list.

I hope not. The league is already too big. They should look to reduce the size of the league by 1-2 teams. League expansion should not be the strategy of G5 conferences. The strategy should be to carve a place out for themselves in the changing landscape of college athletics where those schools use athletics to benefit the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general communities around them.

I have a very technical take on our search for our new baseball coach. It is summarized in this adage "pee on Banfield! Good riddance. We will be better w/o him."

Just wait until the Women's Lacrosse takes that first 40 hour bus trip to Stanford. Then off to Washington the following week. Parents could car pool together. What could go wrong?

USC and UCLA set to join Big Ten in a couple of years. There will be spots open to move up in conferences, and I think we're setting ourselves up nicely to get an invite.

I'm actually very relieved they didn't go with navy or gold colored turf. Ever since Boise decided to go blue, dozens of schools have followed in their footsteps just to draw attention. I've seen purple, gray, red, teal, orange etc. It's an eyesore and brutal during games. Props to UA for doing it right and keeping the field traditional.

I think a lot of the people strongly opposed to the new logo will come to love it. It looks awesome on the field and gear I've seen athletes wearing this summer. Nice, clean, modern and professional.

I take it you have never encountered Charlotte's HC Kevin Langan. He is the biggest asshat Ive ever seen. It made a lot of us smile watching him on the sidelines the last 3 years trying to figure out how Marshall passed Charlotte by when before 2019 they had 12 winning seasons from 1979-2018. Well CUSA soccer is dead as of now. Marshall, ODU, Kentucky, South Carolina and WVU will form part of the Sun Belt out of CUSA. Those that still had soccer there in FIU, UAB, FAU and Charlotte will join the AAC for 2022. I guess that leaves Liberty still in the ASun. They along with FIU would have been the only CUSA schools to sponsor soccer in CUSA come 2023. Come 2023 Sun Belt Soccer will look like this: JMU ODU Marshall Coastal Carolina GA Southern GA State WVU South Carolina Kentucky UCF (2023 when they join the B12) If it was possible I would love the Sun Belt become only second conference with 12 members, as of right now only the ACC has 12 members. I would love to add Akron and FIU. It is gonna be a great conference as it is with Akron and FIU it would be just that much better.

I think the true driving force behind conference realignment has to do with the capability, politics and readiness of superior conferences. (and less about NIL as it's subjectively used at some schools more than others) For example, affirmative action hire, Kevin Warren of the Big10 had zero problem delaying and almost cancelling the BIG10's football season while his son didn't miss a practice at an SEC school. No wonder OSU and Michigan want out of the BIG10. It's run by bad people with room temperature IQs. Actions have consequences and if one has a multi-million dollar university and a top tier sports program they may not want to be under incompetent leadership.

The NCAAs failure to regulate NIL is sad because the solution is obvious. Limit NIL to $100,000 per player per year (or pick a different number if you like). Then any additional payments to players would have to be made below the table, just like the good old (pre NIL) days. Such a change would be extremely welcome news to scores of unemployed former bag-men.

Can we please get the Las Vegas bowl sometime, somehow? Need a good excuse to tell my wife we're heading to Vegas for a few days LOL
