  1. It might help if a sweatshirt isn't $69.99.

  2. It’s tough having to watch the closest MLS team vie for one of the final 2022 MLS Cup playoff spots, but I can’t be upset when another of our ZipsMSoc alum and his team qualify. Congratulations to DeAndre Yedlin and Inter Miami on clinching a playoff spot last night.

  4. If only Shaq were from Akron and not LeBum. Maybe we'd actually have affordable merchandise.

  6. Love it. I wonder if we’ll see them this year, I was under the impression that we just had the golf and white.

  7. Chad Barson cleared the ball off the line via his shin, but the ESPN announcer mistakenly said looked like Valentin. As I recall, the barrage occurred for what seemed like an eternity of about 1 minute from 88:29 to 89:28.

  8. Thank you for posting that. I had never heard the story about the 4th official walking off. That game was COLD. Sounds like the official was looking to get to warmth but the Akron bench was too hot. Haha. Also, love hearing Embick mention that Lola didn't think he could win a Natty here. Someone correct me, but have we ever lost to Lola? Obviously we beat him in 2010, and again during one of the 3 Final Four trips we've made under Embick. Any other encounters? One thing I was disappointed to not see included was the flurry at the end of the National Championship game. THAT was some of the most chaotic soccer I've ever seen. Would've loved to have heard Embick's thoughts and what the coaches were thinking as Meves was making a toe save after Valentin(?) cleared the ball off the line.

  9. Akron mistakes (pick 6 and muffed punt at our own 2-yardline) gave BUGS 14 points. That's a textbook example of beating one's own self. He said, "beating one's own self."

  10. 1-0 Akron at the half. Had to defend WAY too much on BUGS' side of the pitch, but we defended well to keep a clean sheet thus far. Clapier chipped the goalie from the left size. Incredibly cheeky goal.

  11. Caden Clark is actually a redshirt freshman this year, you have him listed as a sophomore

  13. Agreed. I'm hoping that this supposed gear availability that Guthrie has talked about rolls out sooner than later. When the new logo and brand were released, different shirts, shorts, and sweatshirts were teased on social media, but still nothing. I will say, the selection at the bookstore and team shop has impressed me and is getting better. But still a long way to go.

  14. I'm holding any questions until we see how this team shoots the ball. The good thing is, we have the blueprint from last year to see how to be successful if we aren't the best shooting team.

  16. Speaking of odd scheduling, who is this Dallas team UCF is playing?

  17. So, let's say without Dawson we end up with a lineup with three "smaller" guards (X plus two of Tribble, Hankerson and Clarke) and the two big guys (Freeman and Hunter). Do we see a little more up tempo as a result or do they slow it down having less depth now? Do we see more zone to protect the smaller guards? It's going to be a very interesting first half or 2/3 of the season as we see how Groce brings this together. In Groce I trust.

  18. This is great, @catdaddyp. Thank you. As this thread continues to grow this post will get lost, so, for easy reference, when I get some free time tomorrow I'll incorporate your information into Post #1.

  20. My favorite quote “We’re out of the redshirting business.” Looking at the highlights it’s impressive how far along this team has come from last year. We’re close. Maybe this week will be the week?

  21. These are all D1 schools that all get 85 scholarships. Even many FCS schools with only 65 scholarships make the jump and play D1 powerhouses. The biggest negative factor right now is that Akron is bad, and has been bad for a long time. That is our problem. When you lose 52-0 or 63-6 I would agree with you, that is no fun and a waste of time. But how about if you’re Kent and you lose 39-22 vs the number 1 ranked team? Or if you’re Miami and beat Northwestern this year? Or if you’re Eastern Michigan and you beat Arizona State this year? Etc etc. Bottom line is that we need to get better and these games will make more sense.
