  1. I think he only needs to look as far as Gibson to see the portal giveth, and the portal taketh away. DJ's been given the keys to the car, and the long leash to fight through whatever missteps he's endured. If he goes elsewhere, for only 1 season, he's not gonna get that. He could easily become "The Undercuffler of Florida". One more season in Joe's offense, with the WR's we'll bring in/bring back, with an improved offensive line, and he can get some NFL looks. He's 6' 6", 215 lbs, strong, he can run with force, good arm...he just needs to tighten things up in the red zone. He has a whole offseason to work with Joe and figure it out.

  2. High Point goes up 1-0 on UNC with 37' left in the match. Winner flies cross-country to play Stanford. And just like that, High Point goes up 2-0 with 34' left. Match is at UNC 😄 Final 2-0 High Point. They head out west to play Stanford. UNC shut out at home and looked BAD doing so.

  4. This is one of the best posts on this board in a long time. The television networks want a playoff because they will make a ton of money destroying a great American tradition like bowl games in order to shovel crap into American living rooms. Yaaaaay In my opinion, college football should benefit the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general communities around the schools. How do you bring as many of these groups together as possible? A bowl game is a great way to do that. There are events at these games where many of these groups are together celebrating a good season and their school. These games are good clean fun for everyone and that is something that should be embraced and fostered not destroyed by TV networks. Maybe at an event a player encounters an alum and the starter relationship where the alum mentors the player and maybe one day hires the player. Maybe a player and another student meet at the game and strike up a lifelong friendship. Maybe a fan meets the players and realizes that almost every player is a good guy and the impression this fan has of the school grows. Last year I went to the Gator Bowl to watch Wake Forest. They stayed at the Omni on Amelia Island (I'm actually in the Courtyard on AI as I type this). There is a downtown Fernandina Beach that's awesome. When the players weren't playing they would go to the town and walk around together or with their parents. All of them spoke to every fan who talked to them and would thank them for coming to the game. I'm sure the same thing was going on at Jacksonville Beach where Rutgers was staying. Akron students, alumni, fans and general community need more of this in their lives. This is more important to UofA than a college football playoffs.

  5. It beats not playing the game for them. They need to win their last 2 games to have any chance of winning the MAC East and needs 1 more win to be bowl eligible. This game getting cancelled really wouldn't matter to Akron. Our season is already shot. Buffalo needs this game played otherwise there is a pretty decent chance they won't even make it to a bowl and no chance of representing the MAC East in Detroit.

  6. Why don't they just move the game to Akron?

  7. I just called Coach Joe to ask him if the game was still being played, and his phone was turned off. I then called Guthrie, and his number was forwarded to someone who did not answer. After a couple of calls to the ticket office, I finally got hold of someone. The person said that there were calls with the coach, AD, and MAC in the morning, but no decision has been made as of the current time. He did not know if the equipment truck had left yet. He suggested I call back tomorrow to see if there was an update.

  10. Maybe 20 years ago I travelled to see the Zips-Wisconsin in Madison on Saturday, and the Vikings-Packers in Lambeau on Sunday (I've been a Vikings fans since I was a little kid). It was one of my all time favorite weekends! But - it was in sunny September and not a blizzard November. 😁

  11. Faith's sister Jamisyn will quite possibly wind up a better player and all-around athlete than her sister. Melissa was the first coach to offer her late in her soph year last February.

  14. She’s gonna be a good one. Can’t wait to watch the game slow down for her just a bit. Stinson and Reagan Bass are going to be the best frontcourt in the MAC 💪💪

  17. Here's how it affects soccer recruiting... Recruit: "Hey Coach Embick. I've heard of your program - impressive history. Who do you guys play typically on your schedule?" Coach Embick: "Our conference has Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, and whoever else the MAC can find. Right now it's Chicago State. But hey, we do play a lot of Big Ten and some ACC schools in the out of conference portion. We do need to win those to have any sort of respect since our conference blows." Versus... Recruit: "Hey Coach Embick. I've heard of your program - impressive history. Who do you guys play typically on your schedule?" Coach Embick: "In conference, we have 2 divisions. Our division contains Creighton, Butler, DePaul, Marquette, and Xavier. Then we'll face a few from the other division, which has UConn, Georgetown, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Villanova. On top of that, we'll face some Big Ten, ACC, and other highly touted programs in the out of conference portion. You'll have a full schedule against the top talent in the country, plus a chance at a National Championship every year." Otherwise, recruiting won't change much. We have quite the footprint to begin with.

  18. In the interest of traveling to games, just throwing this out there for those who have the flexibility and don't mind using budget airlines: https://www.flyfrontier.com/deals/gowild-pass?mobile=true (Takes effect next May) Oh to be fully retired and able to travel to all the games...

  19. Earlier in the season, I was considering going to Buffalo this weekend to watch the Zips on Saturday, and then the Browns on Sunday. After seeing the weather forecast, not a chance. About 20 years ago I was on a business trip just into Canada across from Buffalo this exact time of year, and Buffalo got hit hard with snow and transportation was crippled. What I had to do to get home for Thanksgiving was unbelievable. Is anyone going to Buffalo to watch the Zips live and brave the weather? If so, please let us know. We will pray for a safe trip for you. I am very curious how many fans the Zips will have at the stadium and we can look for you on TV. Go Zips!!!
