  1. I watched the second half on the Butler-Providence game. Ali was in for quite a lot of time. He did not seem to be the player he was at UA. He was wearing a facemark for protection and maybe that affected his play. Thad Matta seemed to be OK with Ali playing on the wing and shooting beyond the arc. I saw little movement out of him such as cutting to the basket or switching flanks. I did not see him follow any shots or crash the boards on others' shots. His D was acceptible. The one thing I noticed that he did not do from his play last year was his dribble-dribble backing the ball into the paint for a turnaround jumper. He seemed to play w/o confidence. Perhaps that stems from his injury. Perhaps that is due to the better play in the Big East. Curiosity made me watch, but I won't be wasting any more time on his progress. I'd rather watch a ZIP.

  2. Wild game against Coppin State. Zips win it in OT. Coppin State’s head coach intentionally got ejected after he was fed up with the officiating. They’re a tough bunch. Zips finish the nonconference slate 9-2.

  3. I still have that free ticket. It goes to the first person who can name who the Zips play tonight in their game against the University of Concord Mountain Lions.

  4. I realize I am getting this thread up a little early but I am out of town and will be on the road Saturday so I wanted to post it while I could. The Huskies of Northern Illinois come into the JAR Tuesday night to open the MAC season. The Huskies are 4-9 coming into the MAC season with wins over Indiana State, Eastern Illinois, LIU and Purdue Northwest. They were predicted to finish last in the MAC preseason poll, placing no player on the 1st or 2nd All-MAC preseason team. 6’3” junior guard Tulsa transfer Keshawn Williams leads scoring at an impressive 19.5 ppg while also leading rebounding at 5 rpg. 5’11” sophomore guard David Coit is second in scoring at 14.2 ppg.

  6. I watch almost no high school sports. What I do see makes me believe the post game free buffet at the local Pizza Hut is compensation enough for their "talents".

There are two periods when athletes can enter the TP with no penalty, but they can sign with their new school anytime. Here's to Coach JoeMo signing many good TP players for many wins in 2023 and 2024. . Go Zips!!!

  8. Dear God. This is such a bad hire. It makes me happy beyond belief. This idiot took a pay cut to win fewer games, go to no bowl games, have zero chance at a division title and basically kill his career. Only at Kent State could something so stupid happen. I hope he likes living in Rootstown.

  9. Heard that Kent’s former Strength and Conditioning Coach Jeff Sobol has an interest in taking over Coach Iannacchione spot with the Zips.

  10. with the mask, hair cut, and weight gain I didn't recognize him. He made a lay up from a good assist and missed two open 3s. He certainly wasn't dynamic on the floor. Was fun watching Providence. I would pick them for a few rounds in my bracket come March.

  11. EDIT. I'm still recovering from the t-shirt cannon incident and once again got my info wrong. 4 home games in January. Moving on...

  12. He’d be a solid pickup. Legitimate 3 star DE coming out of high school. For whatever reason he wasn’t favored by VT’s new coaching staff. 3 years of eligibility remaining with a nice upside? I’m a fan.

  13. Sorry your would've-been-Heisman-candidate QB tore his ACL in a blowout loss against the Gamecocks, and you were undoubtedly not the same team without him, which 100% justifies finishing below Bama in the rankings. Cry about it more at the Orange Bowl, and feel free to send us another $1M check in the future if you want "revenge" on us for tackling your stud WRs that you left in while up 4+ TDs.

  14. I don't know if Ken Burns will be a good coach at Kent State or not. What I do know is after 24 hours at Kent State he will be able to produce an 8 part documentary on PBS about why Kent State sucks.
