  1. Why are people on this board continually ragging on the MAC? I'm not saying that we should of had a team in the CFP, but in our bowl games against similar conferances, the MAC did pretty good. What conferance has the best W/L bowl record?

  2. My assumption with some of these high school guys is they get P5/upper G5 offers earlier on in the process (spring at the latest). Then the transfer portal gets flooded right before signing day, and the conversations that previously complimented said offers change. "We have playing time." "Hey, we had playing time before, but we are going in a different direction with this position. The offer stands (or is rescinded) but I can't guarantee what I could before playing time wise." One of the benefits for G5 programs when it comes to how the TP affects HS recruiting.

  3. New offer out to 2023 CB. Long and plays the ball well in the air. He would be a nice addition if we were to land him.

  4. That's the way I took it. A bit defensive/reactionary.

  6. It's not like these national pundits follow all these teams closely. They kind of just looks at wins and loses then assign grades. Personally, I'd probably give him a B-, but overall I'm optimistic that 3-4 years from now this will look like an A hire.

  7. First Year Coaching Grades ––Adam Rittenberg ESPN Senior Writer I would grade B. The team improved at the end of the season. IMO, that is the sign of good coaching. I would have to look it up somewhere, but I'm pretty sure this is what I predicted at the beginning of the season, so I have to give a good grade for meeting my expectations.

  8. Very good offer list. Surprised he did not sign in December. Go Zips!!!

  9. You're completely disregarding the 4 OOC games that each team played, which the MAC performed extremely poorly. This included multiple losses to FCS schools. The 48 OOC regular season games is a much larger sample size than the 6 bowl games. I'm not ragging on the MAC to just rag on the MAC. I'm doing it because it was objectively a down year for the MAC. Hopefully this years bowl performance is a sign the conference will be improved next year.

  10. You are the consummit traditionalist. I'm willing to compromise; how about Mr. Jack Wagon, the Sage of ZipsNation? Happy New Year to you, yours, and all of ZipsNation.

  11. This is partially on Guthrie for being more concerned with making a “name” hire. Minimal due diligence within the college baseball world would’ve revealed the douche that he is known to be.

  12. It’s too bad we didn’t play BG later in the season when much of the tackling was cleaned up. I know we still have a few areas to be addressed through recruiting, but I expect next season’s outcome to be different.

  13. They weren't. Much like the 2017 Zips, they benefitted from some fluky results. They had a negative point differential in MAC play. They lost a pair of MAC home games by 30+ (Akron had 0 MAC losses of 30+ this year). Their postgame win expectancy vs. Marshall was like 14%. They squeaked by Akron with the help of a pick-six and Bobby Golden's punt return blunder. And if Toledo was simply *bad* at tackling, they would have lost that one too. Good on them like those 2017 Zips for winning the games, but the final results speak for themselves. A losing record, blowout losses, a loss to a 6-6 G5 team in the bowl. For UA, it was 2 butt-kickings by Toledo and Lane Kiffin naming the score in Boca. Scot Loeffler won himself a lame-duck year by reaching 6-6. Now with this mass exodus, it seems the writing is on the wall, barring a miraculous portal recruiting season. I encourage anyone curious on the situation to go read the BG board, Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba. It's nearly consensus that SL needs to go, but at the same time they realize they're stuck with him for '23 at this point. Really a terrible situation all around.

  14. If you weren't already convinced that this guy is a real ****head, the kids on the team found out through the tweet. They had no advance warning. To add to that, the author of the tweet caught some criticism for releasing it before the kids were told. His response was that he held off to confirm through 4 people before posting it. As such, Beals had ample time to let the kids know and didn't.

  15. Coach Loeffler posted another tweet yesterday after what seems like a notably high number of key departures.

  20. He just left for Marshall. Players found out via Twitter. There was reason OSU fired him. A-hole with a capital A!
