  1. Saving a more detailed overview for some timethis summer, I'd say that 4-8 would be a pretty disappointing season. We were essentially 3.9-7.1 in 2022...improbable blunders at game's end cost us wins vs. Buffalo and CMU. 2023 is essentially Joe's team. 80% of the Arth players are gone. We should be at least a 6-win team this season.

  2. Jaden Rashada is looking to get out of his commitment to Florida because his $13M NIL deal fell through when the Florida Collective couldn't come up with the $$$$$$$$$$$. What a strange world college athletics have become. On the positive side, LSU gymnastics meets are selling out.

  3. It’s a tad long, but an interesting read

  4. I’m actually on the other side of the fence and think 2023 is when DJI should show the most improvement. He’ll be in the same offense, have 2 of his top receivers returning, and ideally have a run game to supplement the pass. JoeMo said himself that DJI played as well as any first year QB in his system. DJI has every reason to lay it all out there. The clock is ticking on his eligibility and if he wants to play pro ball, this will be the year for him to give scouts something to consider. If he struggles, we know there is at least a serviceable backup waiting in the wings.

  5. I don't think Irons improving is out of the question. The OLine improved quite a bit by the end of the season, and unfortunately we never saw a healthy Irons behind an improved OLine.

  6. I tallied all the movement out with the closure of the first portal window. The numbers below consist of graduation and transfer portal. The number in parentheses is the transfer portal. For comparison, last year’s movement was around 50 players including graduation. QB = 0 RB = 1 (1) WR = 4 (2) TE = 1 OL = 5 (4) DL = 9 (4) LB = 2 (1) DB = 8 (4) ST = 3 (1) Total = 33 TP = 17

  8. Just to be clear, I've never said this. P5 have nots will never leave P5 for G5. There is more money in failure at the P5 level than they can make at G5.

  10. Not to mention, 2021 was his first year in the program. Prior to that he was in JUCO. Definitely the opportunity to correct the little things in 2023. He has the tools.

  11. Agreed. Lawson is a guy that projected to be a good speed rusher but never put on much weight. Maybe by his Sr year he could be that guy. I'm guessing he was just too slow to play OLB.

  12. Thanks Catdaddy. Your analysis is interesting. To me it points out that we are not losing talent that can help us grow. Further we are not losing depth. The folks we have coming in are better in both the ability to challenge for a starting position and the ability or to provide much needed depth. Joe understands the process and will make this team better before we tie it up in the Fall. Give him time.

  13. Pretty decent signee out of HS that never foudn a way to get in the field. Don’t recall if injuries were an issue in his first two years or not, but don’t believe they were this year.

  14. Much better tonight. They weathered the storm of their worst start of the year to rally and dominate. CMU is pretty bad, but the Zips deserve a ton of credit. They were tough and took a lot of punches early. CMU was physical but Akron didn’t back down. Camp was superb running the show. Keep it rolling, Go Zips!

  15. I'd hope the Zips wouldn't take anyone for granted, particularly on the road. We were a few bounces away from losing to an equally as bad BGSU. In the MAC anyone can beat anyone on a given night.

  16. WMU was within a few baskets of beating KSUcks. They rebound well, but are Jekyll & Hyde with their shooting. If they're on, they're going to be tough to beat. If not, it's a win.

  17. I guess Channel I mean Tribble will be guarding Norman. Zips didn't play well against Broncos last year and had one of the craziest endings ever at the JAR.

  18. Agreed that a bowl game ought to be a goal and I think that should be the minimum from here on out. The talent level should be on par with everyone in the MAC and potentially better than a few teams. Coaching will set the 2023 team apart from others. I loved how physical the team was playing in the last few games of the regular season and if we start out that way in 2023, who knows what can happen.
