I'm curious how much of our high school recruiting strategy is based on making contact with players who we know are not going to come to Akron out of high school, but will potentially be in the portal in a year or two and we want them to already be familiar with Akron.

The “controlled scrimmage” is fine. Full contact. Offense vs. Defense. I enjoyed the last two Saturdays. Hardly any difference from a split squad scrimmage.

I don't know a lot about Brown & Davis, but Wigal is an interesting pickup. She was a really good basketball player at Granville, and I heard she's actually a really good golfer as well, finishing 4th in the state in D1 one year. She didn't play much at Liberty, but going off how I've heard Coach Gensler talk about how he wants to play via interviews/podcasts, Wigal would fit in. The only one that has end up at YSU so far from those in the portal is Lewandowski. Bass might end up at Purdue.

I don't have to explain to you why i don't want to go i already explained this, it's gonna be less than i thought it would be what is it to you? I stay in Miami if i feel these changes change my mind on spending money to see something i don't want to see i won't come its that simple, We aren't the same i'm use to see a certain type of football you're not. Offered Cornell CB Anthony Chideme-Alfaro. He’s been in the portal since the first window. Excellent size and definitely has the ability to play at this level.

I watched Iowa State last weekend, and it was like any scrimmage I' ve been a part of except the D wore white and occupied one sideline with the O in black on the other. I actually think this was better than a game. Nobody was stuck on their own 2 yard line. It was quick to see what the 2's and 3's could do in the same place on the field. The QB's wore green--no hitting them. I do hope you have a bit more pleasant weather!!

Back when Toledo was last in the NCAA Tournament this would have been me waiting for a Banquet chicken pot pie to come out of the oven. Now it's 2024 and things have changed. We live in the digital age. So this is me now waiting for the name of the latest Akron recruit to drop.

I don't want to get too excited, but how can you keep calm with this type of personnel infusion. Bud said the goal was to build a program that could consistently go into the second round of NCAA playoffs. I am not saying we are there, yet we do see a glimmer of what may lie ahead one day, however soon that may be.

FYI, this Saturday will not be a game in the traditional spring variety. It will be a controlled practice. There will be no type of scores kept. No blue team vs gold team.
