The zips players and the zips coaches should all be extremely proud of the effort and determination tonight. They could have hung their heads numerous times during the match....but they battled their keisters off. Embick did well to substitute Nicholas Beier and Jack Roman at half time. Nicholas Beier played very well and almost won a PK. Jack Roman was absolutely fantastic. The young man really impacted the game. Malik Henry deserves a lot of credit for moving to the back and doing what the team needed to get a win. I said after the Temple game that Emil Jaaskilainen might be the best #9 that the zips have had in many, many years. Emil showed once again tonight that he is a very talented, hard working player. It was super to see the zips get a rebound goal in the first half. Great job by WKWK to step up. This was a truly team win. Sleep well, tonight.......zips WELL DONE !!!5 points

Great team win!! Several really gritty performances tonight. How many miles did Malick Henry log? This is the sort of victory that can turn around the trajectory of a season. Emil Jaaskelainen is a man - full grown!! He was heroic tonight! Emil Jaaskelainen is the best pure #9 Zips have had since Teal Bunbury 15 years ago. His hold up play with his back to the goal is textbook. "Step aside, let the man go through..."4 points

Agreed, great team win. Great work by the players and coaches to respond to the adversity entering the game and in the game. Crazy turn of events throughout with a gritty W for the good guys. Thank goodness Ashton's game out of the lineup is vs St Francis with his returning for Georgetown.3 points

They flew down on a charter from Akron/Canton. Frontier A-330. Nice hotel in Columbia. Team buses had a bad-ass police escort from the hotel to the stadium. 3 motorcycle cops and a state trooper. Big time experience for the guys!2 points

Hopefully this is the game that brings the boys together. They looked confident even after going down quickly. They need to quickly turn it around and beat St Francis and launch into G-.town and make a statement.2 points

The buses were to take the players to the Enterprise car lot where they drove six to an SUV to Columbia; the AD got a manager's discount at Enterprise.1 point

I love when people vent. I could do without the comparisons to a crappy small town full of halfwits who have nothing better to do on Friday nights than going to high school football games.1 point

very soft 2nd yellow on Ashton Kamdem..... ref should have gone to VAR to look at the PK call against Akron Zips will have to do a lot of chasing in 2nd half.... Embick needs to use subs in the last 15 minutes of the 2nd half1 point

They're on the West Virginia turnpike as we speak. They are yellow busses that say Peterman on the side.1 point

College Football 25 Patch was released yesterday. Seems like these are being released every 2-3 weeks. Still no fixes for Akron's incorrect field logo and no new uniforms. Not sure how they can updated 22 teams, but Akron keeps getting ignored.1 point

A few things. Toledo also plays midweek games. Akron in the past has hosted big events on game days. I remember a few years ago they even offered a free concert headlined by Soul Asylum prior to kickoff. I've seen other similar kid events that you shared that Akron has hosted. I don't think Toledo is doing much more than Akron besides establishing a winning culture and having competent decision makers/ADs. Akron has been miserable for so long that apathy has settled in. I was an undergrad during the Coach I years. I remember pregaming with friends to go to the games and by the time we'd sober up around half-time we were down 3 scores and were bored so we'd leave. Eventually we just quit going to the games altogether. I've tried offering these same friends free tickets after graduating to attend, but nobody wants to go because they remember how terrible the experience was. It's not fun watching "your team" lose by 20-30 points each week for a decade plus. The Browns were terrible for many years, but still most games were decided by 10 points or less. Akron games have historically been over at half-time. Put a product on the field that's worth investing 4-6 hours of one's time to attend and then maybe people will show up.1 point

So the subjectiveness comes in with which refs want to actually enforce this BS, which is the gripe I had last night.1 point
