  2. I like the 2012-2015 format, but with 8 teams. 1 & 2 get a bye to the semis 3 plays winner of 6v7 4 plays 5v8

  3. I agree with your argument and I like your schedule for Cleveland. But I would also be open to the idea that only Seeds 1-4 are guaranteed a trip to Cleveland using your format. Let 5-12 battle it out on campus for a couple of rounds to earn the right to play 3 & 4 on Thursday.

  4. You don't have to play every round in Cleveland

  5. I really think the 6 team format would make some sense. If you're the 7th best (or worse) team in - let's be honest - a mediocre conference - do you really deserve a chance to go to March Madness? Cut the 7/8 teams, which gives the top 2 seeds a small advantage of a bye, and you eliminate the early Thursday games, which aren't well-attended. Thursday 5 PM - 4 vs 5 8 PM - 3 vs 6 Friday 5 PM - 1 vs 4/5 winner 8 PM - 2 vs 3/6 winner Saturday 7:30 PM - Chanpionship

  6. I hate the exclusivity occurring with college sports. This is awful. The year round schedule is fine, but only inviting the elitist group of 32 is nauseating.

  7. Perry will always be loved in Akron for his fierce mid-field play and his golazo to tie the NCAA semifinals game against Michigan.

  9. I know there wasn’t too much about this game to look upon fondly, but I enjoy watching one of the smallest guys on the court, Tavari, block shots.

  10. 1) Never, ever, EVER copy the Sun Belt's format. The best seeds to have in that tournament are the 3/4 seeds because they have a weaker opponent to knock the rust off against before playing the top seeds. 2) Best format is what @zippy5 stated. 1 & 2 get BYEs to the semis and the tournament is limited to the top 8 teams. Starting next year, Akron, Ohio, Kent, Miami, Toledo, UMass is a formidable 6, then add someone like Balls/BUGS/WMU for the final 2 spots, and you've truly found your top teams to represent the MAC in the NCAA Tourney.

  12. I'm curious if the MAC will revisit their format at some point. Dropping to the current 8-team format was allegedly in response to the pandemic. I do think there needs to be some additional advantage built in for the top 2 or 4 seeds. Option 1: 2016-2020 Format The top four seeds received byes into the quarterfinals; seeds 5-12 played first-round games at the campus of the higher seed. Winners of the first-round games advanced to face the top four seeds in the quarterfinal round in Cleveland. Option 2: 2012-2015 Format The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds received byes straight to the semifinals, with the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds beginning tournament play in the quarterfinals. Teams seeded 5–12 played an additional two rounds. Option 3: Brand New Format Could they adopt an SBC-Style tournament? I'm guessing this would be too much. My preferred idea would be to cut the number of teams to 6 and award two first round byes. This cuts out your teams who, quite frankly, don't deserve a shot, awards an advantage to your top 2 seeds, and still maintains three nights of good basketball. How it'd look today: Thursday #4 Ohio vs #5 Kent #3 Toledo vs #6 Ball State Friday #1 Akron vs Ohio/Kent winner #2 Miami vs Toledo/Ball State winner Saturday Championship

  15. Here is some perspective on the national debt. If we paid the $34 trillion national debt off $1.00 per second without interest accumulated, it would take over 1.1 million years to pay it off. 1.1 million years ago, Homo Erectus was the dominant humanoid on Earth. Someone needs to snap the country out of this insanity or something will.

  16. I don't think this is true. Many schools have recovered pretty well.
