  1. Had the Freeman jersey on at the card shop again today. Several more comments from people saying they like the jersey and are rooting for Akron to win the tourney. Fans: Wear your Akron gear. Akron: Offer more affordable gear for fans to wear.

  2. Exactly! This is why you should sell affordable gear in multiple outlets. It's all publicity that helps generate interest in your program.

  3. Remi Agunbiade looks like he leveled up since last we saw him. More composure on the ball. He was a handful for the Vikings every time he touched it.

  4. Another season ending with 6 injured players on the bench. Some good news is that our top recruit from last year whonwas injured in the state finals in Indiana and never saw the floor for us is back practicing and should be ready to play in 26-27. We also have one of the finalists for this year's Ms Ohio Basketball signed for next. Ryan and Bud are already working on who to target in the transfer portal. Eventually our luck has to change.

  5. Portal rumors are already rolling in, so I figured I would start a thread.

  6. MMK is a great free throw shooter he has a good shot. and he had a nice Drive vs NUI. I am on board. He has a chance to be Evan replacement! That is a good call. Anyone with his drive and work ethic can do anything if he puts his mind to it!

  7. Kind of what I'm seeing in Marvin as well. If he can develop a perimeter shot like Freeman and Amani did their senior years I can see him getting a slightly more expanded role in getting minutes at both the 4 & 5 positions. Finding someone to replace Evan IMO is what will be the biggest challenge. He's kind of the glue that holds everything together.

  8. I wouldn't be surprised if Groce has the awkward talk with Briscoe when the season is over and to see him move on. Marvin is showing more and more that he's me then just a desperation back up big and I think we'll see him in additional different roles going forward.

  9. My best guess is we target 1 big. MMK and Barre still have eligibility and I just don't see us starting 2 traditional bigs. More likely playing a SF at the 4 like we've done with guys like Mahaffey and Ali in the past and attempted to do with Harris before he got injured. Bigs are very expensive in the portal since there are so few. Okonkwo who put up pretty pedestrian numbers last season got a bag. When you're like a school like Akron, but hope to compete with high majors like Dayton or mid tier P5 programs like a Oklahoma you have to take a money ball approach to roster construction. If they're over paying bigs, but undervaluing undersized guards, like Tavari, you spend your money their instead. That's a big reason why I think Akron has gone to a 3 guard, 1 SF, 1 big lineup. It's the most cost efficient way to build a competitive roster. There is a surplus of 5'10"-6'3" guards. There is a shortage of 6'10" bigs who can move the court and aren't liabilities on offense or defense.

  10. I think we're going to need two post players in this year's TP class.

  11. Earl Grant was just fired from Boston College and I think he would be another solid option as well. He had a nice run at Charleston prior to taking the Boston College job so he has shown he can win and compete at this level. Boston College is a tough place to win. No shame in not being able to cut it at the P5 level.

  13. This could be a head fake, but I still prefer Buffalo to UMass.

  14. Suder had zero intentions of attempting to score. In fact, he held onto the ball like a football and used his off arm as a stiff arm. It is a very clear arm extension and this is his game. He plays guard like Mike Alstott and cries when he doesn't get the call. At the very least, this should've been a no call and a turnover.

  15. TOS to Balls Edit: Sorry @NWAkron. Didn't see you posted this to the Balls thread.

  16. If he leveled up from last year, he's in for a huge year!

  17. As I recall, Remi scored in the 24th minute and Aiden in the 65th minute.

  18. Main stream media probably hasn't watched a MAC game that Miami didn't play in.

  19. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the Zips will be preparing for Buffalo’s press. Also remember how that game ended…a bit chilly between the coaches.

  20. I haven't followed closely tbh. That could be the case. The MVC is also very deep. Not many games you can feel safe penciling in wins. Key example Belmont during Arch Madness. IMO the MVC is one of the few mid-major conferences that puts on a better conference tournament than the MAC. Mainly because there are usually so many quality teams and fans show up in large numbers.
