Zips surprisingly carved up Flyers midfield with only a little trouble. There were several 10-minute stretches of the match where we had our way with the ball and they could not touch us. Are we actually that good? it seems we have adopted a new base formation of a symmetrical 4-1-4-1. This formation was tried in Spring and preseason, along with lots of other things. Now it is here. This formation has recently become very popular globally. At least Embick & Co. are paying attention to the World game. Anybody else seeing this? Matthew Paiva’s sliding tackle in the 2nd half yanked to my feet. It happened directly in front of my seat. Shades of Simon Spelling! (In 1982, not now.) I do not think it was a foul, let alone a yellow card. And it went to VAR for possible red card. Go figure. Keep up the strong work, Matt! That was beautiful!!5 points

I didn't get a call, but my buddy Marty did. We have attended games together since back in 1998 as freshmen at UA.5 points

Army started off their year with a home game against Air Force the two teams played to a 1-1 tie. West Virginia had a tough start to the season. Providence with a 4-1 home win over Sacred Heart. Syracuse traveled to UConn and the Orangemen got a 2-1 road win. Villanova opened at home with a 1-0 win over crosstown rival, Temple. who from the NCAA pleaded the fifth? was there a hearing about this new proposed rule?2 points

Watching it occur live in front of me, I didn't think it was even a foul, but the Dayton player sold it, and the ref was behind the play. When the ref went to VAR for possible red, I thought he would rescind the yellow, which he upheld (too prideful to admit his mistake). Looking at it again on ESPN+ On Demand, it should not have even been a foul. GREAT sliding tackle. I'll reiterate your statement ... Keep up the strong work, Matthew! That was beautiful!!2 points

I'm perfectly content with 2 P5 games a year. We desperately need the money in order of having any hope of staying competitive in the MAC. Also, if we can't go 5-3 in MAC we frankly don't deserve to go bowling. The payouts for these P5 seem decent and as @LZIp stated for the most part they're 2nd or bottom tier P5 programs. The type of opponents that an upset, while unlikely, is possible.1 point

Better than the other fight he got in off the court I suppose. In all seriousness, glad he still shows up for the alumni stuff and hope he’s doing well.1 point

Ugh, since there's only 5 home games in 2027 and 2028, hopefully this midweek nonsense goes away for 2028 so they can at least all be Saturday games.1 point

Wasn't sure where to put this but we've locked in some money games for upcoming years. https://fbschedules.com/akron-adds-five-power-opponents-to-future-football-schedules/1 point

St. Louis hosts SMU (ranked 15 in preseason coaches poll) on Monday the 24th. That should be a great matchup and will also help the RPI for the Billikens.1 point

Paraphrasing Jerry Tarkanian - "The NCAA was so mad at Texas Tech they put Akron on probation for 5 years."1 point

Student turnout was decent but not great. Lots of empty seats in the main stand, which indicates to me that season ticket sales were not great which is disappointing after an Elite 8 run.1 point

In today's world with how eligibility is or isn't...I have no trouble seeing how a guy could be surprise ineligible. It won't be just at Akron either1 point

St. Louis finished with a 4-0 win over Seattle. Seton Hall lost 2-1 at Duke. Wake Forest opened with a 4-2 home win over San Francisco. Cornell (the opponent for Sept. 8 ) does not open their season until August 29.1 point

TBH I'm in support of his outrage. All these micro transactions in games you pay $70 for is ridiculous.1 point

It would have to be a joint fundraising effort with the women's team or a specific private donation, it would be nice to get their scoreboard on par with the others on campus. I agree money is best spent elsewhere but they deserve it1 point

First time starters Londen Sears and Francisco Tolaba have both looked good. Brett Kaminski had nice save 3 minutes into game. Sam Bunch and Nolan McGuire have done well at FB.1 point

Would also be cool if Bordeaux won and they did some sort of NCAA Football video game promotion where Akron's playbook updates to whatever Bordeaux comes up with or some sort of Ultimate Team purchase of an Akron legend (Frye, JT, Dwight, Hixon, Blackburn, etc.) and partial proceeds go to the University.1 point

Just as good as a patch! Especially when I'm hungry. I don't feel it is wishful thinking to say there are numerous positives emerging regarding this season. Some big, some small. The negativity is slowly being dispersed.1 point

This would be my guess as well. I'm traveling today so I haven't listened to any podcasts or anything, but based off what I've seen online there is talk about Akron football. Maybe not to the level it was two weeks ago, but much more than what it would have been had they just announced some random winner yesterday.1 point
