  1. Verbal commits lists him as a PF. He runs the court extremely well and looks to handle the ball pretty well. All in all, he looks like a 3 inch shorter version of Xeyrius Williams.
  2. I wonder if this is the what bursts the bubble on athletic coach spending? Schools like tOSU, Alabama, Clemson, etc. can afford to pay their coaches millions of dollars as those athletic programs print their schools money. At the G5 level and below, coaching salaries have far outpaced revenue growth. The only reason they have been able to stay afloat is because of how heavily athletics gets subsidized by the schools. I'm not talking about just the revenue sports either. You see some non-revenue coaches making ~150k even though the sport they coach generates next to no revenue nor provides the school much notoriety.
  3. They finished tied for the 3rd best record in the MAC and that was with them playing in the much tougher MAC East. Akron made the jump from 8th to 1st and next years MAC looks to be even worse than this years one. Every team ahead of them lost a significant amount of talent through a combination of graduation and transfer. It's far from a guarantee that they win the regular season title next season, but I think they will be the preseason Vegas favorite.
  4. Not sure how accurate this is, but the WMU is saying Flowers is transferring to EMU... https://csnbbs.com/thread-897265.html
  5. WMU just lost their best 2 players to the portal. When you hire from within, you hope that helps stabilize the roster. In WMU case that didn't help. Brandon Johnson - WMU Michael Flowers - WMU
  6. Way too early to tell. We lost 4 starters so I don't see us being unanimous anything. As of right now, I'd guess Buffalo would be favored to win the MAC. They return Graves (he's not going to stick for the draft), Mballa, Segu, and Williams. I wouldn't be surprised if next year isn't like one of Groce's OU type teams where we finish the season 3rd or 4th in the MAC, but are playing our best ball in March. It's going to take time for our players to develop chemistry.
  7. Hawkins was the only one that was going to get fired. Keno Davis just signed a 4 year extension last fall otherwise he may have been canned. Murphy's buyout figure is $200-$300K so it's low enough that he could have been bought out, but that would require EMU to actually care about their basketball program.
  8. I read that WMU bumped his salary from $110k as an assistant to $120k as head coach. He'll also receive ~100k in bonus compensation. All in all he'll make about half of what Hawkins was making and will be by far the lowest paid MAC men's basketball coach.
  9. Very well could be. I haven't watched any of the games.
  10. It looks like they borrowed the idea off of reddit. Akron upset tOSU in the first round last Thursday and plays Oregon in the round of 32 tonight. Reddit even has a play by play announcer from the America East calling the games.
  11. Yeah, he'll definitely be returning for his senior season. In real news Justin Turner & Anthony Roberts are both in the portal.
  12. It's not like Bowling Green is in bad hands with Huger at the helm. They finished 3rd last year and 2nd this season. The WAC, outside of NMSU, is a bunch of cupcakes.
  13. The NABC named their All-MAC awards.
  14. If you want to include Big East schools, look no further than Villanova. They've been even more successful than Gonzaga.
  15. NMSU, UMass, YSU, and BGSU are all winnable games. We won't win all 4 of these, but winning 2-3 of them is certainly doable. We may even sneak in a win against someone not on this list. I see no problem with people posting 1-2 win predictions as long as they're not doing it in a trolling manor. We went 0-12 last year so us going something like 2-10 certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility. You can be a fan of Akron, but still provide an objective view of the team. Our football program has stunk for nearly the entirety of our 30 year FBS existence. I would have thought we'd have thicker skin by now.
  16. The only reason there is a Gonzaga of the west is because given where they're located, there is no conference for them to move to. If their campus was located anywhere east of the Mississippi, they would already be in the new Big East. Xavier and Butler can't be the Gonzaga of the east because the Big East isn't a mid-major conference. Far from it actually.
  17. It's not like we're going to be placed at a competitive disadvantage. All teams are going to face the same issues. One of my buddies is a fitness trainer and has been posting some of his home workouts on his social media. I imagine they will be doing a lot workouts using their body weight and whatever free weights they have at home. Perhaps may even be doing some home workout videos.
  18. That would seem a bit premature given that the season is 5 months away. From what I've read it sounds like the virus in China has been contained and there has been a sharp decline in new cases over the past few weeks. We may experience something similar in the next month or two.
  19. Yeah, they had Micah Potter on OSU and he averaged double figures with Wisconsin this season. Whatever list they used to update the rosters was certainly out of date.
  20. The vet min for a 4th year player in 2019 was $806k. It would have only gone up for 2020, especially with the new CBA. He's pretty much making vet minimum. He's a huge upgrade over Hilliard in the return game, which is what he was brought here to do. I don't see how paying a kick returner vet min is a bad signing.
  21. So the reddit community is hosting their own mock NCAA tournament using college hoops 2k8. You can even watch the games live on youtube (not that I am). I thought it was kind of a dumb idea until I saw they have Akron upsetting tOSU in the first round. This seems perfectly legit. https://imgur.com/a/ozXsYA1
  22. It doesn't even look like he's all that great finishing at the rim. A lot of those made baskets came after he rebounded his own misses
  23. UNC season got derailed by injuries, including to a guy that will likely be a lottery pick. I could be wrong, but I think they were mostly healthy when they played tOSU. I do agree that it's a nice game to have on the schedule. Personally, I view it as a little to lose, but a lot to gain type game. It certainly beats playing a random Big 12 or ACC opponent.
  24. I would have liked to have gotten a shot at tOSU in the tourney. I'm glad we didn't play them in November. They destroyed Cincy, Villanova, UNC, and Penn State early in the year. Also beat a really good Kentucky team. They peaked in November thru mid-December. Those two months of basketball were why they were projected to be a 4/5 seed.
  25. A lot went our way for us to play at the level we did this year. We were picked to finished 5th in the MAC East during preseason. Personally, I thought we'd finish 2nd or 3rd in the East with BG winning it.
