  1. One coming out later today. Maybe we start having prop bets on the video Does iCoach say the word "spirited" more or touch his face more on Friday's video. Does iCoach reference the weather. Will he be wearing a whistle. Will he say "we are getting better every day" What am I missing? Player names mentioned over/under = 2.5
  2. http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/conte...l?cxtype=fb_mlt Shaka is apparently a part of everyone's coaching tree..
  3. http://www.daytondailynews.com/dayton-spor...ob-1123826.html College coaches began to convene at the Final Four on Thursday, and four names reportedly are popping up frequently in discussions about the UD job: Drexel coach Bruiser Flint, Akron coach Keith Dambrot, Ohio U. coach John Groce and Duke associate head coach Chris Collins. “I’d say we’ve had an incredible level of interest both from sitting head coaches and from associate head coaches from very successful major institutions,” said Wabler, who’s conducting the search with associate AD Dave Harper.
  4. Nice report on former Zips...thanks, ABJ! http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/118824644.html
  5. This one will stick in my mind, however it turns out, I will remember this quote: ''I think Akron is a sleeping giant. You have got to give them two or three more years. The way they can coach and recruit, this is going to be a juggernaut.'' I liked this part: Lemming said the recruiting process for UA is helped by having InfoCision Stadium and the spacious Stile practice building. ''This is unbelievable. These are definitely the best facilities in the MAC,'' said Lemming, who also provides recruiting news for the CBS Sports Network and MaxPreps.com.
  6. I learned that 5 practices have now been completed, 1/3 of spring camp. Snow showers forced the practice indoors but it was still spirited and lively. We worked on short yardage and goal line situations. We ran 16 live plays and are making progress, although we are still green. 2 player names were mentioned at the end of this informative report but I could not believe iCoach exposed that sensitive information on the internet and I will not be so reckless as to repeat them here..
  7. Good points. Geno left Can't because of their (Bradley) financial committment to basketball. New arena is not used for mens b-ball games but it contains an on campus practice facility. Carver arena in downtown holds about 11000. Can't has promised him on campus practice facility but not fulfilled that promise. Likewise for renovation to MACC. Maybe this is the time to commit some resources toward JAR renovations/practice facilities to show support of Dambrot and his program. It must be tough to have a program that continually competes for MAC championship yet facilities are arguably the worst in the MAC. That's why I'm not convinced KD wouldn't consider the UD job. He could coach another 15 years easily, that's a long enough time frame for UD. If they would get a younger coach who is as successful as they'd like, the young guy would move on in less than 7-8 years anyway. At Akron, KD is limited by the mediocre 1-bid conference, mediocre arena, & mediocre attendance. At UD, everything would be an upgrade, allowing for better recruits. I'm sure he likes being at home in Akron but I'm sure he'd also like to make deeper runs in the tourney and UD isn't that far away. Being at a Catholic school might be awkward for him, but probably not a deal killer.
  8. Against the Zips, I don't think it will matter much. They will just script the entire game, maybe even with a couple of pass plays for the practice. But hey, we'll get the paycheck which will allow us to continue our program and hopefully start climbing back out of the hole and find out if TW will be able to stay or not.
  9. Maybe Shaka could have a basketball camp for Roy Williams, Coach K., and Thad Motta..
  10. In other central Illinois news: CEO of Caterpillar Considers Relocating Company
  11. Would it be a little strange to be coached by someone that you previously played with? Mentor is probably a good role if it means being a 'buffer' between players and coaches. I guess I don't know what all GA's do...maybe more gofering than coaching(?)
  12. wow, fsu certainly squandered their last possession in regulation.. ballgame. bye shaka...enjoy the loot. any way KD would go to vcu?
  13. +1. The JAR is a fine location on campus with the other athletic facilities. 5500 seats is enough. A 10,000 seat arena that's less than half-filled is a bad game environment. A JAR renovation wouldn't require as much money so it should be possible in the near future. The track is no longer needed. Remove the corners/stairwells if possible. Remove the classrooms and put in a nice concourse with bigger restrooms, decent concession stands, trophy cases, team photos, etc. Would be nice to make some aesthetic improvements to the tan brick exterior as well, if possible. The city could take the lead on a larger downtown arena near Canal Park for special events. H.S. & college playoffs, soccer/hockey, shows, etc. The Zips could lease it for showcase games, club hockey/lacrosse, graduations, etc.
  14. VCU. I just wonder if Shaka will move on up after this run
  15. Including the Charlie Sheen's, President Obama's, etc. that get your name out there to non sports fans..
  16. Redemptive. It helped to make up for the football season from Heck, as of course did the soccer natl. champ. Now we just need to see some light at the end of the football valley. Spring practice starts when?
  17. If it wasn't said during our game, looks like it will be said this game. The #2 seed high powered offense is sputtering v. FSU. I was trying to watch but the amount of commercials is unbearable. I'll just check the score later.
  18. A few more of those alley-oop inbound plays would have been nice too
  19. Me 3. They came a long way.
  20. Down 4 at the half w/only 1 foul on Zeke...right where we want to be!
  21. The Redhawks have gone down to URI. The good news is they came within a point of scoring 60.
  22. Is that you, Gerry? And now the Flashes get to fly all the way back across the country to play another Catholic school in Fairfield, CT. How do tall basketball players fit into airline seats? They must get business class tickets. At least they will have the frequent flyer miles to compensate for the jet lag.
  23. "Michael Porrini scored 19 points and Carlton Guyton had 13 for the Golden Flashes (24-11), who missed out on the NCAA tournament with a loss in the Horizon League title game to Akron. They seemed headed for a double-digit loss against the Gaels until the final minutes of regulation, when a furious rally culminated in a stunning victory that left the Saint Mary's faithful silenced."
  24. It always amazes me how quickly momentum can shift and how much can happen in the last couple minutes and even seconds of a game with the clutch shots, timeouts, free throws made/missed, and almost inevitably a bad mistake (fumbled inbound pass, dribble off the leg, missed bunny, etc.) If we can hang around on Friday, it bodes well for us since our guys can remain calm and hit some big shots.
