  1. Crap Creighton ties it up. 25 minutes to go
  2. Lareya fouled in the box and Souto converts the PK. Zips up 1-0!
  3. Great player - poor kid can't catch a break. Good news is it is very treatable.
  4. Hustlebelt ranked how painful it would be for each MAC team to lose their football coach this year (and measuring how devastating it would be to the fan base). They said WMU, CMU, Buffalo and EMU should be very concerned if that happens but they listed only one program that should be in total meltdown mode. Tier Four: TOTAL MELTDOWN Akron- Terry Bowden (18-31) At 7-5 the Zips have their first winning season in a decade. Meaning I finished middle school, went to high school, graduated, got accepted to college, received a diploma and found my first real job before Akron made it back to a bowl game. That's a long stretch of futility only EMU can possibly relate to. But it all changes this year. The Zips are going bowling and can publicly admit to having a football team without shame. And what a shame it would be to have this all come crashing down. Bowden isn't realistically going anywhere, but could you imagine the destruction that would befall the athletic department at Ohio's polytechnic university? Akron is not an attractive landing spot for new hires. It has a history of limited success and a less than stellar track record on the recruiting trail. Right now Terry Bowden is doing the impossible and could be a few offensive weapons away from being a real threat to Bowling Green's dominion over the MAC East. The Zips have few places to turn if Bowden no longer leads the way.
  5. I know this is not a UA uniform post, but the Navy helmets for the Army Navy game are all hand painted ships, grouped by seven different position groups. Those are awesome.
  6. Wagon Wheel just got a mention in ESPN's "Flipping the field" column by Ryan McGee. Came in at Number 4 under the Rivalry Weekend Trophy Power Rankings: 4. Wagon Wheel -- Can't State vs. Akron: Legend has it that as John Buchtel was searching for the land on which to found the school that would become the University of Akron, his wagon got bogged down in the mud and a wheel broke off. He moved on, but the spot where the spokes stuck is where Can't State now sits. The Zips rolled (get it?) over the Golden Flashes on Friday.
  7. Since this should probably be used as the game thread, Zips just went up 2-1. Own goal the other way
  8. It's 1-1. We hit an own goal. :-( SMU has a pretty good team.
  9. Maybe the way to be successful in the MAC is not to hire the up and comer but the down and already been successful like Solich and Bowden.
  10. Yeah but the comment that they were worried we might pawn the wagon wheel was actually pretty funny - especially coming from a Can't State grad. :-)
  11. ESPN has the conferences rated - the only G5 one (even though the table is obviously wrong, I modified it to correct it below) ahead of the MAC is not surprisingly the AAC. That put the MAC at #7, not bad considering most years we were #9. Now that NIU lost to BGSU, hoping enough upsets happen now to get Toledo to the G5 slot. 1 Big 12 1 2 93.8 2 Big Ten 2 5 88.8 3 SEC 4 1 75.3 4 ACC 3 4 72.7 5 Pac-12 5 3 64.5 6 American 6 6 34.3 7 MAC 7 7 17.6 8 MW 8 8 16.5 9 C-USA 9 9 15.4 10 Sun Belt 10 10 13.9
  12. That was a shocker. Both teams were down to inexperienced freshman QB's. How in the world did Buffalo thump Ohio?
  13. I meant WMU can get a share of the title but you're correct in that they cannot make the MACC. Even CMU is still alive to get that share, its possible there could be a four way tie for first at 6-2, and if that does occur then NIU gets the title based on common records against each other and a head to head win against WMU. Toledo 1-2 (losses to WMU, NIU) NIU 2-1 (loss to CMU) CMU 1-2 (losses to Toledo, WMU) WMU 2-1 (loss to NIU)
  14. That gives Toledo a huge boost to win the west, and I think it keeps WMU alive as well.
  15. I think I could have spent the whole two hours sharting and enjoyed it more.
  16. This is as poorly as I have seen the Zips play in quite some time. If they had played like this against Villanova they'd have lost by 50.
  17. I have it still on ESPN3. But you might be better off. With the foul fest going on this is borderline unwatchable.
  18. What's the saying in Green Bay? Relax :-)
  19. What's the saying in Green Bay? Relax :-)
  20. Good to see Jake back in too. Not a great start but it's still early
  21. Guess Pat either didn't have a broken rib or decided to play with it because he's in
  22. That's a pretty tough OOC schedule for 2017 as it is and since the Zips will need a home game with likely no return visit, it looks like another FCS opponent will be in the works. I'm OK with one cupcake. :-)
  23. After careful consideration I have decided what's best for the Zips is to have both Ohio and WMU lose with the Zips winning (odds of Toledo making the G5 slot are pretty small anyway). That would give the Zips a tie with CMU for the fourth best record in the league and probably gives them a little bit better bowl. Go Huskies, Rockets and Zips!
  24. Planning on coming in as well, having a game over the Thanksgiving holiday does give people an opportunity to come back and visit family and go to the game. I'm giving thanks because it means something this year. And if we did lose our coach lets talk to another successful SEC coach, I can't believe there is talk that LSU might pay $20M to let Les Miles go. Ludicrous.
