  1. Hey I couldn't argue with this list!
  2. Interesting, while I'm not clamoring to see those teams at the Info, I'm sure this conference would have a better rep than the MAC in it's current state. However I'm not sure Temple would ever want to change conferences in b-ball though.
  3. I may be wrong, but this seems to suggest that even with the injury, Frye has the 3rd spot over Kyle Boller. Whether it's Frye, Taylor, Blackburn or Hixon or whoever....I always get super excited seeing our Zips playing in the NFL. Frye on Wednesday underwent surgery to repair damage to his right (throwing) wrist. Cable said once Frye rejoins the team, a decision will be made as to how long he will be out of action.
  4. Nice to see we are of the same demographic Cornbread! Your question needs a response... hot girls breaking down line-backing schemes.
  5. MCL sprain. Out 2-4 weeks Whew....it's bad enough what happened to Hixon. I got to see the Giants play a preseason game last year...Chase is practically another coach out there. A fine leader who is a great example on and off the field.
  6. The kid is tough, but I don't see him staying healthy.
  7. What a dork. It makes ripping on that neighboring school so easy sometimes....
  8. I have to wonder if the MAC could ever get a network together by being a little more cutting edge and entertaining than the stodgy BIG 10 network. Maybe focus more on student life and the tailgating experience...make it fun. Heck, have hot girls dressed like our dance team providing the in-game expert analysis. We could learn so much from Univision. Seriously folks, would you rather watch hot girls or six hours of Chris Spielman breaking down the Purdue linebacker scheme?
  9. I'm not exactly sure how much talent is on this team, but it is sure nice to see some love from the media at large. It would be so so great to finally have our defense be an intimidating presence instead of the past few years of getting bowled over.
  10. Wow you are right....that number does seem ridiculously low. Of all my close friends who went to Akron- maybe 20 people, only 2 didn't graduate and 1 transfered. Pretty amazing statistic. It would seem to indicate the vast majority of current students are future dropouts or transferees!
  11. Steve French sounds bad because he loves Akron so much. How would any of us sound after the carnage we've witnessed over the years. ps. in other broadcasting news....voice of the Cavs Joe Tait is hanging it up after this year. If you didn't know, he also does Mount Union games. I'm gonna miss that guy, he's the best in the nba.
  12. I wonder if former WKNR host and Zip grad Jeff Thomas will be in the running. Anyone care to guess or suggest other candidates? With ISP getting bought, I really hope they can somehow improve the sound quality of the broadcast. I don't need or want an "FM-type" sound; too antiseptic. AM rules for sports. But the Zips broadcasts always sound so tinny and low budget to me.
  13. I think it may take a few seasons for our tailgating to sort itself out. It's just the nature of being on a half finished campus in an urban environment.
  14. Hey, that shirt you have on at least looks pretty cool. Your pal always, Porky's Place Yeah, ready to have the EXACT same limited tshirts and sweaters as the student center bookstore has. Heck Kohl's in Akron and Rocky River have better selections.
  15. I for one will not miss this respectable though utterly boring opponent. I would much rather see some mid level programs who we haven't seen before. Might be cool to see some Mountain West or WAC teams here for a change.
  16. Oh yeah...one thing I forgot to mention was that Reghai was absolutely gushing over the Info. Now if the school would just have the insight to ACTUALLY GET ESPN CLEVELAND TO THE GAMES.
  17. Agree Rodgers looks pretty fast. But I don't know if he has the ability of a Frye or Cribbs to endure the abuse of running the ball with regularity. p.s. don't Nicely and Rodgers have similar 40 times? Rodgers does look quicker to me. Rodgers is athletic enough to be used in a wildcat formation. I think whoever somes up short in the competition will still see playing time.
  18. Unfortunately I ended up missing almost the entire interview...I am a lousy correspondent! p.s. BRING ON THE VOLS Looks like we are playing in old Rocky Top in 2012. Cant wait to see these 2 home and homes he is excited about for 2013 and 2014!
  19. So far so good...Reghai is interviewing...talking about how the system will be built around existing talent. Will follow up with more! Scott
  20. Very cool article!! Congrats to our Athletic Department for sending in the schedule (clap clap clap). And props to Bowling Green for coming in #3 with their sweet poster. Way to rep the MAC. Can't's poster sucks, and I'd be really surprised they actually paid a graphic designer for it. GO ZIPS
  21. Let's all hoist a cold and foamy Roo Brew Litigation Lager in celebration!!!!
  22. Dude, I don't think eguins posted this to brag about his team or anything. It's just interesting information.
  23. Interesting points on favoritism and the logic of winning. Most recently we've seen Rich Rodriguez up in Michigan favor his "system" above all else, despite not having the players to effectively implement it. Chalk it up to either persistence or being blindly stubborn. This is always a hard statement for me to swallow. I would always be surprised if a coach actually really sacrificed quality of play to play his "favorites". Every college coach wants to win....and HAS to win. Could a coach be sticking with his older players because he believes that experience matters? And how do we know that our new coach won't at some point stick with his older players for the same reason as they age in their careers? It's just hard for me to buy into the the idea that, with the fragile nature of college coaching jobs, a coach would put guys on the field that can't help us win...only because they like them.
  24. I miss seeing the Cleveland City Stars on tv. Krenzler Field at Cleveland State, their old home turf, has to be one of the most photogenic backdrops. http://www.netitor.com/photos/schools/clst...nal/280688.jpeg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Krenzler_Field.jpg http://www.pro-gk.com/news/images/Cleveland_City_Stars.jpg
