  1. If they ever settle the lawsuits, there will be big changes in football.
  2. Why not? The BE does not have football.
  3. Channeling the departed member GoZips here. The best scenario for UA would be to drop football down to D-3. Leave the MAC and join the Big East for all other sports. If we can continue to grow our NIL program for Basketball we would be a good fit. The BE would gain access to another media market. Good enough to compete but not currently a threat to the current members. Imagine the crowds we would draw at the JAR. The BE has a great media contract which would more than make up for any football dollars we recieve now. Even after paying the debt on the football stadium we would still be dollars ahead. Go back to playing Mount Union etc..
  4. I don't think Jesus is a football fan. 🤔
  5. Lol. Pointing out the obvious should clearly be censored!
  6. The administration tried to put together a concert featuring a major country music star. They were shot down by Live Nation. The concert business is controlled by just a few companies. They decide who is playing where and when. Think TicketMaster lawsuit.
  7. Nice story, but Akron isn’t brimming with alumni who are oil field billionaires.
  8. An 18k seat stadium would have been great.
  9. Lower their acceptance rate and raise their fees. If so many students want in then they should pay more. Having fewer students would make it a better experience.
  10. A story on OSU overcrowding problem. https://h5.newsbreakapp.com/mp/0vJtXsnH?
  11. That's the kind of community support to expect when you have a winning program. Zips football has been such a loser that no one is interested in being part of it.
  12. That is total BS. I don't know who gored your ox, but you have no clue what you are talking about. You can either be part of the solution or part of the problem. That is up to you.
  13. Until some boosters step.upnto the plate with NIL money, we will not be able to compete at a high level. The guys that left were promised money that we don't have. Welcome to the new world of college athletics. All they wanted was a couple thousand bucks a month each. Maybe you could help out with that.
  14. All the nodes have been installed. Next up is testing and burn in.
  15. Everything you say is true except for one fact that you omitted. The $5 million a year in debt service for the stadium. That money is considered part of the Athletic Department budget. There is currently a $45 million balance still due on the original $60 million price rag for the stadium. It's going to take another 20 years to pay off that debt. No other MAC Athletic department has that kind of debt hanging over them. You can thank those previous AD's who got the thing built for this situation. They have all moved on to bigger and better paydays while the current administration has to deal with the consequences.
  16. Lurch was a really good football player in his day. Him on the right. My dad on rhe left. 1947
  17. This is the scoreboard at CMU. Ours will be similar.
  18. OSU and Cincinnati lowered their enrollment standards in order to make up for lost revenue due to covid. Most of their losses were due to drops in out of state and overseas students. Between the 2 schools they have gobbled up 30,000 instate students who would have normally gone to the MAC schools and smaller private institutions. This probably cost UA at least 1000 freshman enrollments. What really needs to happen is for the state to insist that OSU increases their standards to a level even higher than before. This is how many other states are set up. Go to a school like Akron or Toledo for undergrad and then maybe OSU for an advanced degree. But what we have is pure greed by OSU. Hopefully this will change after students find out the horrible conditions they are subjected to in Columbus. Overcrowded dormitories, 500 person class sizes taught by grad assistants etc..
  19. The LED nodes are being installed this week. Testing will commence shortly after. The board should be operational for the home opener.
  20. I dare you to spend even 1 day in Guthrie's shoes. There is huge pressure on Athletics to reduce expenses or increase revenue. Most of these money games have been scheduled years in advance. The OSU game represented an opportunity to make some cash. With the realignment going on, these games are going to disappear. A more sane schedule starts next year.
  21. The scoreboard will absolutely be functional for the home opener. Whether the video board is working has nothing to do with the actual game. Be thankful that UA figured out a way to find the money to replace the old one. 1st world problem here.
