I just called Damon's in Belden Village - DirecTV yes, ESPNU no. Nick, the manager, is going to call me on Friday after he gets the sheet (from corporate I guess) that tells him what games they'll have access to on Saturday. I let him know that Zip fans are looking for a place to go watch the Akron/NCST game Saturday at noon and he said he'd love to have the business. In the meantime, I guess we're still 'on the hunt!'

My son noticed the new tops right away - thumbs up I like the blue pants.

Sure glad we're in "Happy" Valley today and not Columbus. THE College does look good. NIU's secondary also looks pretty porous, kinda like it did last December in Detroit!

An update to my original post ...I sent an e-mail to the athletic office earlier this morning. Here's the reply ..."Audio for football, men's basketball and women's basketball will be available over the internet. It will be a pay service as in the past.The games will be heard locally on 1350 AM again.The web site is in a transition. We are hoping for a re-launch of the upgraded site later this week. That's why there is no audio link yet. They'll be up bt the end of the week."

I'm assuming all Zips broadcasts are still on 1350AM with Steve French doing the play-by-play. Can anyone confirm this? Will the audio be available via the web (pay-for) as it has in years past? I can't find any broadcast info on the temporary gozips.com web site. New gozips.com was slated for end of August - I wonder if XOS is behind schedule?

I turn 41 tomorrow (class of '88) and it's always been the 'U of A' or 'The University of Akron' for me. Akron U sounds like Podunk U to me and I get a good ribbing at work and everywhere else I happen to be when I step up and 'correct' someone . 'THE ...' is pretty arrogant and is deserving of the school down south. I about lose my lunch everytime I hear someone say 'THE Ohio State University.'

Just threw most of today's mailing into the trash...no wine-and-cheese parking for me. Yeesh!

It's time to put up some non-MAC W's to earn a higher ranking and a little more respect. Bummer that we have to do the 2 away/1 home thing with most non-MAC schools but that's just the way it is right now. I'd like to think we have a shot at NC State and Cincy this year. I love what JD and his staff have done in two years - GO ZIPS!

You know, the only sports that can't are really good at, are baseball and basketball. But basketball will be bad soon. But for us we rock hard in most sports.

Football is all year round (at least Akron's does). At the MAC Semi Finals in Cleveland, we saw a Can't fan. He had a shirt on that had 00 on the back. I go," Hey look. It's a Can't State football scoreboard." Especially when they face us. :lol:If Can't were to put on a football play, it would end up like this- . But when they actually play football, it's like this- . But who cares about them. Let's just worry about Akron. And Fear The Roo! We dominate. Can't State golden Flushes.

Well it's easy to say that Temple is not a choice for that guy. But what i don't get is WHY DIDN'T HE GO TO AKRON!? I mean Michigan State blew the chance to send us to another bowl game. Dead on, ZipAnalyst. Our "big" men have always played on the soft side, much as you describe Z for the Cavs. Height helps but give me a ton of desire and passion. Pitt's Aaron Gray was fun to watch - what a moose!

Just finished watching NORTHWESTERN STATE beat Iowa at the buzzer. THAT can be us in the very near future and I don't think we'll be a 14 seed. CAN'T wait for next year!!!! GO ZIPS!!!!
