Why do people think all money spent by the U. comes directly from taxpayers when the state actually provides relatively little (and dwindling) support?

Akron is all set for baseball with the Rubber Ducks and Canal Park. The university needs to focus those resources on the other sports. Most of the university job cuts were administrative. Although students can't do all the work of experienced full-time staffers, they can certainly help fill the void with co-op & internship jobs in the various departments, in keeping with the polytech/experiential learning push.

I had WCT lectures at EJT back in the day. What I remember is the throng of students going there (or coming from) on the sidewalk right next to Buchtel Ave. with the traffic whizzing by. If you weren't careful you could have been nudged by the crowd off the sidewalk and into the path of a vehicle. Nowadays it's hard to believe there was once a major thoroughfare running right thru campus.

Wow, this has been a blessing in disguise for many of them who will have a more valuable diploma if they graduate.

We lost by 3 at Ohio last year... I don't think there's much chance they'll blow us out in "That" stadium this year. My hunch is that both games will be fun for the newbies.

While UA spent $2.3 million last summer on the most critical structural repairs, another $8 million to $10 million are needed, none of which has been scheduled, Dahl said.
