  1. Steve and Joe are predicting a big crowd.
  2. This is going to be a 5 hour game.
  3. ATS has now flipped...OU is covering.
  4. Wide open receivers...they have figured us out.
  5. True freshman kicker/punter for OU...hopefully he will whiff a few http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/ousportsextra/oklahoma-vs-akron-who-holds-the-advantage-when-oklahoma-passes/article_9786095d-1703-536b-874b-383c72f571fa.html Special teamsAkron has a senior punter and placekicker on its roster. OU will counter with true freshman Austin Siebert, who will handle both jobs. Oklahoma’s punt return game needs improving. The highlight for OU will be Alex Ross’ kick returns. Advantage: Zips
  6. I don't know either but I trust that John Green would have some good input on that. For one thing, I think it would boost the scope and stature of UA political polls. Political fact-checking services have become a pretty big thing also.
  7. Latest installment of Karen's-World: http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/09/university_of_akron_eyes_growt_1.html I've always felt there weren't enough pear trees on College Street, I'm glad this is finally being addressed
  8. A high of 92 and low of 72 is forecast for Saturday, partly cloudy. The first half will probably be mid-80's and second half in the low 80's. No doubt there will be substantial cooling equipment on both sidelines. Time of possession will be a bigger factor than the heat...we will be "toast" only if we can't get some 1st downs and keep the defense "fresh".
  9. UCF loses at home to Florida International. O'Leary is reportedly looking to step down as coach after this season and become full-time AD there. Knights have been speculated as a possible Big XII expansion candidate for exposure to FL recruiting.
  10. Best wishes to Shawn. Thanks for the memories and for representing UA with class.
  11. http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31000&ATCLID=210305281 The stage is set to dash the hopes of 82,000+ in person, a few million more via tv and radio. Go Zips!!
  12. It's a better choice anyway since it reflects the many facets and programs of the U., not just the tech.
  13. Let's see what Karen has for us today, shall we? http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/08/university_of_akron_may_one_da.html "While the University of Akron means something to those in Summit and the five contiguous counties, that brand falls off really dramatically" outside that area, he said. Yeah, to the extent that almost any reference to UA from outside of Ohio is "The University of Akron in Ohio".
  14. http://newsok.com/article/5443443 "Akron's not going to put up a fight against Oklahoma"
  15. I expect the Sooners will come out running to test the Zips front, it will be interesting early to see if the Zips can contain it. We struggle with the "back 7" executing pass defense assignments consistently so I do think OU will move the ball and score points regardless. We will need some first downs, ball control and a few breaks to hang with them until late. 34-23 Sooners.
  16. If it's just a main entrance to the former baseball field & track, walled off from the rest of campus by the soccer and softball fields, it makes no sense other than being a photo op for uakron.edu and other media. If it is meant to lead to Buchtel Hall as the article states, the softball field would have to be moved as well. It would make more sense if the new main entrance includes some type of visitor / prospective student / sports attendees welcome and information center, easily accessible from Exchange.
  17. 1. Which corner of Exchange and Spicer is available to receive the track relocation? 2. Wouldn't a new entrance at the baseball field & track just run into the soccer pitch and softball diamond? What would be the point of that? Unless they were to put a new admin / information / welcome center building there. https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+University+of+Akron/@41.0737003,-81.5106714,270m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x883129d8ef8c276f:0x66f09fc09aa9c6d2!6m1!1e1?hl=en
  18. Several out-of-state alumni have tried to rally support for the baseball program and mounted a fundraising campaign. But even if they raise money they may not have a place to play. "Frankly we need the property the baseball field is on to create a main entrance to the university, which it does not have," Scarborough said. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/08/university_of_akron_president_scott_scarborough_knew_addressing_60_million_problem_would_be_hard_but_necessary.html Main entrance to............the soccer field?
  19. 4. Volleyball recruiting
  20. What we most need, IMO, is some great QB play and passing so we can hold & move the ball on offense, score some points, and keep the defense fresh. I am most interested to see if Pohl can keep the job and step it up a level this fall.
  21. UA and the landlords should work together for a solution rather than trying to keep these players on the hook for a year when they did nothing wrong and want to transfer out. The U. would be money ahead to eat a month or 2 of lease (until the landlord gets a replacement) and be free of the scholarship commitment for the players who find another baseball team.
  22. I have to agree it's pretty scummy of the landlords to not cancel leases for the baseball players.
